Resident Evil 5 Dev. Interview

I didn't think the light/dark effect would play such an important role in the game. I thought it was just a realistic effect but it's great because it leaves players 'blinded' running from room to room which can be worse than playing in the dark with a flashlight.

Even still the ambiance found in RE4 is going to be unmatched. That game was a cult masterpiece. It had to be the story, medieval setting, and music you hear around a merchant.

Gameplay wise RE5 will deliver but the presentation can't be anywhere near RE4. Nothing is scarier than a Ganado wearing a potato sack over his head running at you with a chainsaw.

yeah i noticed that, although it is very possible to get it out by the end of 08. Who knows. All I know is that RE4 was incredibly long considering there was very little backtracking. They could have easily made it a two part series.

It really wasnt that long, it took me 14 hours on my First Try, and I'm in no means a fast gamer.

On my second runthrough it took me 6.

Funny thing about racism, you wont see it unless you are racist??

last time I checked, True Crime NY (among tons of other games) is a black guy killing a bunch of white people.. Nobody complained there!

took me about 20 my first time and 12 my second time. I like to enjoy that shit!

even still most games of this caliber and quality last 4-5 hours.

It took me about the same as Prime except prime was 80% backtracking so you gotta wonder who gives you tons more content.

Yeah, oh hard difficulty my 2nd run through I was under 6 at a fast pace, not much longer at a lazy pace. Still, I think I played through the game 5 or 6 times, and enjoyed every one of 'em. The first time that regenator who's legs I shot off jumped up and started chewing my throat though I jumped about 2 feet.

And I hate horror games, but man I couldn't put it down!!

After having Leon as the main character in the last game I'm surprised they didn't switch to a female character. I was hoping for Jill personally (WITH the beret of course)

you got a woman in the ps2 version. I don't like playing female characters. I still imagine that samus is a guy. I can't project myself onto a girl. I'm too damn manly.

I don't play it on hard, I like it easy so I don't have to go crazy playing. The regenerators are some of the most amazing characters in any game. I kinda wish you could blow chunks out of all the characters. Hoping they did that with RE5 but I guess they didn't.

Would it hurt to shoot off half a head or an arm/leg?? NO. They did that with House of the dead years ago.

RE4 is one of the few games where Hard really isn't much harder than normal. I was actually hoping for a little more.

Regenerators, I stopped sniping them after a while and instead stuck to walking point blank with the striker and letting lose. They only take 3 or 4 shots if I remember correctly.

remember that awesome battle in RE4 with the trolls and you had to knock them in the molten metal. That was SO FREAKING awesome.

they try to reach out and grab you and pull you into it.

You get way more for your buck.

PLEASE don't turn this into a PS3 vs. Xbox 360 flaming thread...stick with the previous answer...look at what other games you want and make a decision...

Basically, While I'm still anticipating this game, I'm kind of bummed that I'm not really seeing anything new. They are going for the "if its not broken, don't fix it" attitude, but i want more innovative things than just having the "heat factor" and some new takedown moves.

I was thinking on the way home...(I know it will never happen) it'd be cool to integrate some multiplayer aspects into the game. Maybe a several person survivor with hordes of zombies, or zombie slayer...I dunno. Heck, team deathmatch or something. It'd be hard to do...but fun!

my thoughts exactly. while the RE franchise has been ground breaking at several points during the franchise (mainly RE 1 and 4), this new one doesn't seem to offer much more in the area of gameplay compared to RE4. Graphically, it looks about as good as Assassin's Creed, or Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which is great, but not as hyped up as the developer is making it out to be. Maybe I'm just getting old or something, but a long, drawn out adventure game has to do alot more to keep me amused now than before. I gave up halfway through Metroid Prime just because the backtracking got so boring after awhile =\
