I played it yesterday and I got to the first village and died cause I ran out of bullets. On the second time I killed everybody. Then I entered a house and the game froze. Ironic. I also played it today again and got past the first chainsaw guy, in which I died again. Everybody dies the first time, right? 🙂
While playing the XBOX 360 I didn't think the graphics were much of an improvement over the last generation... but looking at RE4 I have to say, "Yes they are!" The graphics look very primitive and they look a little weird on a 37" 1080p LCD screen. Still, the graphics are great for last gen consoles. They are very detailed.
Even with primitive graphics, the game is still freaky. I haven't played very much of it, but the weird things going on in Spain just make you wonder. It almost seems like Capcom was influenced a little by Silent Hill in this respect. There were no zombies, but the people I fought might as well have been zombies since they move just as slow most of the time.
The controls at first feel unnatural and can easily got me killed. Slowly, I got used to them, but I've experienced more intuitive controls in other games. The left part of the nunchuck with the joystick is used to move him forward, back, turn left, and turn right. And the Wiimote is used to aim. Looking in this shooter is done for you as you walk, sometimes it won't feel natural. You can look around, but you have to be stopped to do so. I initially had a tough time getting past that fact that I couldn't strafe with the joystick or look around with the Wiimote. I got used to it, but sometimes the controls still confuse me. Sometimes it just because of the awkward placement of the buttons on the Wiimote.
The movement controls just like in previous resident evil games, except the over the shoulder view makes it scarier because you can get hit from behind or from off to the side where you can't see. It's very creepy.
I was a little disappointed that the menu wasn't controllable with the Wiimote. I fully expected, due to the Wii's nature, that I would be able to control the menu with the Wiimote. I think it would have been more intuitive, considering Wii owners would've had plenty of practice in that department just with the Wii menu alone.
Overall, it seems like a fun game, with lots of scary, freaky, sh**.
