Just picked this game up today. I was waiting for the Gamestop I work at to get some in stock, and when I got to work tonight, lo' and behold, we had about 10 copies freshly stocked. With plans to buy one, a guy came in to trade in his RE4 Wii copy about 15 minutes before it was time for me go home. His copy was absolutely mint, so I purchased it at the used $26.99 price along with my employee discount. Had I a discount card, I would've gotten another $2-3 off.

HUH??? Game stores will even ripoff their employees?????? And what type of trade in value did this guy get, $10-15?

What do you mean rip-off their employees? I get a 15% discount on anything new or used in the store (besides new consoles), and if we decide to purchase their regular 10% Game Informer thingy for $15, we can stack that 10% on top of our 15% to get 25% of anything used. I don't really see how that's a rip-off. EDIT: Hell, with new releases for the 360, my discount basically makes them $50 games again, instead of $60.

He got $15 of in-store credit, by the way. It's only a $30 game in the first place. If you think it's a rip-off, remember it's voluntary to trade in your games, nobody is forcing anyone to do it.

A lot of the GameStop employees around here will buy used games from the customer that they are trading in with cash and pay them a dollar or so more than the trade in value. Is that against policy?

Ya, it's against policy.

When is paying $27 for an used game not a ripoff???

Well, as the customer you have the right to check the case, manual, and disc. More importantly, you have the right to decide if you want to purchase it. In some cases, you are able to find a used game that looks absolutely pristine, so wouldn't you rather pay $27 instead of $30, or $55 instead of $60? I mean, we're not talking about electronics here, it's just a game disc. You can tell the quality of it just by looking at it before you even buy it. Plus, any used stuff you buy from a place like Gamestop or EB comes with a 30-day guarantee.

I'm not trying to be "Mr. Good Corporate Employee" here. I just don't really see how you consider used prices on newer games a rip-off.

I saw this game being played at a friend's house & now want a wii. RE4 and super paper mario make it seem worth it.

I really couldn't get into Super Paper Mario. It felt like I was forcing myself to play just because it was Mario. I stopped after 5 hours, maybe it got better...

do the wii controls really add anything to the standard controls?

I never played RE4 on the GC/PS2, but I've played RE2 on the PSX. I'm sure that it's somewhat similar. To me, it's really easy to aim and conserve ammo via headshots and using your knife. Plus in general I think that the Wiimote/Nunchuck is very comfortable.

I agree. You really can't beat the comfort of the Wii controller combo for one reason - your hands are not constrained to a particular position.

The control scheme isn't somewhat similar?

I know RE4 is much faster-paced, but it would seem the fundamental controls remain the same.

Its tank style control of the character just like RE2, but its behind the shoulder rather than overhead, and you have much better control over where youre aiming vertically (because you can actually do it) and horizontally (because you can directly see where youre aiming)...the Wii controls make it even better because you have absolutely control over the pointer.

I played it on the cube and never bothered playing past the first fourth of the game. Just wasn't fun to me. And wave-arm controls only make things more frantic because they are more difficult. So they make it scary by having zombies (or whatever they are) that are terrible AI, and then put in more difficult controls so that you struggle more. Just not fun to me.

You barely ever have to wave you arm, and when you do it's only during those interactive cut-scenes to dodge or attack something. So in no way should it make things more frantic.

Also, many agree that the controls are much easier. Target that used to have to be sniped with the Rifle can be sniped with the pistol due to easier aiming with the wiimote.

Perhaps you have poor control over your arms/hands? 😕
