Resetting StarTac Security Code?

How can I reset the security code on a Startac/timeport? I am going to by one, but the chick doesn't know the code...

The guy at the store said a technician can do it, but that sounds really expensive...

Why would it be expensive? If either of you have the service they should be able to override the code and reset the phone for almost no charge.

If it was her phone, Have her try the last 4 digits of her SS#.


 
It's the 6 digit "Security Code", and the carrier doesn't set the code. It seems as if someone went in and changed it from the default "000000". The guy at the store told my friend a technician could do it, and I'm inquiring as to the cost of doing it (I'm assuming they won't do it for free since I'm assuming they're taking the phone apart to internally reset it).

OK guys,with the help of the newsgroups I found out all I have to do is get it into test mode. However, once I enter the code for test mode, the numbers start flashing (Like the are supposed to), then it says to hit #55#, and does nothing for me...

Anybody?
