I want to join the reserves after I grad college, this is my last year. Im interning now as a coder for the army (civilian) so I think I will be offered a job here after I grad.
I was interested in ng bc they have locations near my house, I like the AF b/c the conditions are most similar civilians, but Im into the physicalness of the military.
I will choose a technical mos like comm or something, but is there any more combat training for soilders after bootcamp?
Does MOS start right after BT and is it straight for the 10 wks or whatever?
Does this mean that I wont be able to start a full time job for 5-6 months?

Thanks.

I know the AF NG or reserves is: your BT, than guard sometimes didn't go straight to school they went home for a week or two, and than off to tech and depending on what your studying 1 month to 7 months of school.

why the reserves? it sounds like you want to be in full time.. i'd choose the AF, but because i don't like the physicalness of it.. since you do like the physicalness why don't you stick with the army? you're working for them now.. you'll get good training, and you'll have a job in line for you

I

I would go with the Army. Since you are working for them now, they may like the fact that you will be joining the reserves.

You should try to generate some offers from the folks you're woking with now, instead of joining and possibly getting shafted into doing something you don't want/don't like.

yes a college degree qualifies you as an officer in the reserves. I am not sure of the process involved though. It definitely isn't as cut & dried as if you have a degree you can automatically be an Officer. There is an application & selection process, but it is different from the active duty process that I just went though.

Dude, Just because the Air Force does not have the same physical demands as the Army doesn't mean you can't still go to the gym and workout. There are plenty of out of shape people in the Army. While I was in the Air Force I worked out every day from 12:00 to 1:00, I was in the best shape of my life.

Just don't fool yourself into thinking that Airforce=Not Physical and Army=Physical It's not as cut and dry as that. Unless you want to be a grunt or something I'd go Air Force if I were you.
