The view that big oil shouldn't own America is a very liberal view as its well documented that big oil has major support from GOP congressmen and presidents (the GOP being generally conservative in nature)

I dont think Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein counts as a special interest group.

Honestly I do not really view marriage as a right. And right seems to have become an overly used and abused word. Not every is or should be considered a right.

Well.... some point to the Right to bear arms as a Right or free speech or to vote or on and on... These are Rights!

Some Rights are explicitly stated and some are inferred. There are different 'levels' of Rights... Fundamental Rights are the highest form of Right... The Right to Life, Liberty, etc... Fundamental.

We also live in a society that is formed and protected under law... Law is what grants to each Equality... Equal Rights. The Majority can not usurp the Rights of the Minority because they are the Majority and so on.

Marriage is considered a Fundamental Right by the Law... That thing that society uses to regulate and protect and enforce, etc... SCOTUS has said that in a number of cases dealing with Marriage... Loving v Virgina...(if I recall right) said blacks and whites can marry... It is Fundamental...

So... IF you don't agree that marriage is a Right then ok... All what you said prior makes sense... It is NOT a correct basis to work from but at least your dialog then flows from A to B....

Notice how classy has to call being gay a choice. You see, being gay has to be a choice and not an accident of nature of something in the genes because if folk didn't choose to be gay he couldn't condemn them for it and his precious Biblically inspired bigotry would fly out the window along with God and Christianity. They would then be like conservatives who have a brain defect and also can't help being who they are and also can't be condemned.

You see this in the statement gays believe in being gay. So if you don't believe in being gay, you are gay translates into gays are gay because they believe in it. But no gay people ever report that they are gay by choice but were born that way.

So classy is the classic bigot. He believes a text that says it is the word of God IS the word of God, like a million other such religious books. And his immortality rests on it. His immortality is more important to him than treating other folk with love. He may say he hates the sin but loves the sinner but hate and love cannot exist together.

And the even more wonderful thing about classy, in my opinion, is that he is black and can easily see the racial bigotry in so so many white people. He can see that white racists step on the backs of blacks to elevate themselves but he doesn't see how he does the same thing with gays. It's staggeringly unbelievable but very far from surprising or rare.

As far as some gays disliking some conservatives (or at least their viewpoints), if you think about it really hard you just might figure out why.

I know we're told we should discuss things & debate them, but its a crock. Ppl will continue to believe what they were raised to believe & based on their own experience. If u've never experienced abject poverty u'd call lazy ppl poor, if u have no black friends u'll simply call black ppl disfunctional based on what u see on tv, etc etc. Experience is what changes ppl's opinion, not arguements. Or maybe, just maybe, they want to teach children about: a) the different types of people/groups in our society and the edifying nature of having multiple viewpoints from different perspectives; b) teach them how our government works and the restrictions it's under when creating/interpreting laws which affect all of it's citizens, no matter what their particular gender, race, religion or sexual orientation might be; c) to teach how individuals or groups try to use an individuals or groups' race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation to marginalize or dehumanize a group or individual; d) I could go on but I think (hope?) you get the picture.

Brainwash? Pretty strong word. I could go down the very easy road of what some people do with regards religious brainwashing but that really would derail the thread.

You can't argue that Marriage is a Fundamental Right of an Individual and then say but only some can enjoy it with out also proving that there is a Compelling Interest by the Government (fundamental = strict scrutiny in my opinion) to deny Equal Protection of those Rights. That is what is to be decided by SCOTUS at some point and then, IF my crystal ball is gleeming correctly, SCOTUS will say..., 'but for a compelling State interest marriage is a Right of the individual to be enjoyed by willing participants..."

But, you don't hold Marriage to be a Right so... I guess you ask the State to sanction or deny based on any criteria they see fit to employ... You may be too short and your short genes are not desirable....

By what means do we perceive insults? If you think carefully you will see it is the ego, the ego that feels insulted. And since liberals do not that the ego that conservatives do, this righteous sense of being right, we also can't suffer from insults like you do. I don't care if you think I am worse than you because what you think is defective and I can see it. But when I say something, just like did right now, you feel it is true, know that it is true, but have to deny it. And that makes you feel insulted. I made you feel your inner conflict at having defective thinking. You are full of rage because you are defective and I am not. And remember we are talking on a relative scale here because we are really the same, having a range in which we are defective.

Liberals can adjust to the fact that they are not perfect because their pride doesn't get in the way to the same extent. They just are more liberal in their thinking and more accepting of others and so more accepting of themselves.
