Anyone else excited about this? I had no idea this was coming out until I saw it was posted on hot deals.

I remember playing the original and I LOVED it.

man I'm psyched.

I remember Pirates! on the C64.
I think I had a version of it on the Genesis (?) as well.
Really loved it and am definitely interested in buying it.
The movie trailer for it looks pretty good.

Blocked by my jobs firewall. What score did they give it?

9.2

I can't wait to play this game either. I spent more hours than I really want to think about playing the old one on my Amiga 500.

That's pretty sweet. I was hopeful but you know they usually botch these remakes. Very nice!

I think I might have played the original. Could you have actual naval wars with the ships where you pulled along side and fired your cannons? And when sailing how you were traveling in the wind affected the speed of the ship?

Yes and Yes.

I'm planning on picking this up later today. The one game I know I will buy this fall-- still haven't bought hl2 because I need a new video card first.

Yes and Yes.

Damn, that game on floppy's.

It took a long time for a sequel to come out.

There was a remake called "Pirates! Gold" that came out 5 or 6 years ago as I recall. I think it was the exact same game, but with some beefed up graphics.

Included on my limited edition. 😀

Anyone got this and played it yet?

I went ahead an bought it just because I loved the old one so much.

This one brings back a lot of memories. It seems to be basically the same thing with better graphics and more details. But the formula is the same.

My analysis (and I've only played it for a few hours):

If you like the old one, you'd probably enjoy the new one. I am.

I like the old pirates! game myself. They had a few different versions, nintendo, DOS, c64, sega, etc.

Fun stuff. It's definately going to be a christmas present from me to someone this year.

I've spent more hours playing another Firaxis game than any other (Alpha Centauri), so I'm naturally interested in this. No demo [yet]?, unfortunately.

I wanted to get into Alpha Centauri. I really tried - never could make much sense of it. Even after reading the huge manual.

Alpha Centauri is one of my favourite games of all time. In my top 5.

It is where I got the name "datalink" from.

I've been playing all afternoon. So fun! The graphics are very nice, it's a blast to blow the hell out of a dirty French frigate 🙂

A friend of mine picked it up and spent all of thanksgiving day playing it. I'm interested, but it's a bit pricey at the moment.
