Requiem for a Dream

I saw that movie today... wow. The things depicted in that movie were insane. I was mollified by much of that movie. The film was well displayed and I was very impressed. Have any of you seen it? What did you think? I also got Pi, from the same director, is it any good? OK thanks people.

I've seen it at a friend's friend's house. The next day I bought the DVD and a few days ago I bought the soundtrack, which curiously costs a few dollars more than the DVD. Amazing, simply amazing.

Something else I want to mention: If you have the DVD, watch the deleted/extended scene with the prison guard. It made me want to cry. (Well, watch ALL the deleted/extended scenes, but this one in particular.)

He was the author of the book.

aronofsky is a great director. Stylistically requiem borrows heavily from chinese director Wong Kar Wai's Chungking Express (the first segment if you've seen it).

It's a great film. Some people think it's all about substance abuse. It could be. Or maybe it's about dreams. Someday it will all be different. Someday I'll be on that TV show. Someday I'll fit into that dress.

PI ends up being the same, which is basically anti-promethean. The fire that is knowledge scars us, like our dreams.

I watched Req. , Pi, and Apocalypse Now Redux all in the same night. I was so screwed up the next morning I didn't know what to do! All are very awesome movies. I should've paced myself. 🙂

Kickass movie. That scene where his arm has that black hole in it from sticking so many needles in it made me not want to eat for about 5 hours.

amazing movie, probably the most haunting soundtrack i've ever heard.

Yeah, Clint Mansell is da man. His score made the movie that much creepier.

The best part of that movie is when the guy yells out, "ASS TO ASS!"😀

You know normally the idea of Jennifer Conelly engaged in such an act would have me tossing a mug right up there with you, but in the context of that movie I don't even see how you could come close to joking about that, let alone be serious....

Pretty depressing ass movie.
Aronofsky was right when he said the character development curves are the exact opposite of 99% of the other movies out there....the movie starts off so happy and then just proceeds to lower and lower levels as it goes on....

Great movie, but definitely not one for a fun Sat. night with the gang 🙂

hahaha that was my favorite scene too. The music from the movie isn't bad at all either. great film

dann~!

I thought it was all right, but I really don't see how people find it so depressing. I mean really, these are three drug bags - would you expect anything less than their self-destruction?

another great movie chalked up on the personal never ever watch again list.
right along side graveyard of fireflies.

finally someone who feels the same way as me

I thought it was overrated like so many other of the ATOT's must-see list movies. For another contender to win top spot see Boondock Saints.
