nah not to change exsisting users names...but there are more and more n00bs (or ppl that were banned) using long usernames to get laughs etc..

I guess it really does not matter

They could also just hard-code the width of the affected column, so long names won't make it any wider.

Meh, it's not that bad. At least it doesn't affect the entire thread. I don't think it's really that big of a deal.

What are worse are the posts with the unspaced letters like:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ad nauseum

so that the whole page reaches a few normal pages in width.

Here's a WILD thought: Why don't the fusetalk people fix their poor design implementation instead?

Maybe they don't consider it poor design implementation or a big problem.

Posted 06/04/2003 by Jason about putting a limit on the length of user names:
"You can't, all the html is dynamic widths and its entirely dependant on resolution, image sizes allowed etc. It's a minor annoyance nothing more."

Jason hasn't said anything different (that I remember) about it since then. Maybe someday he'll surprise us in a new version and, since it will be an improvement only in absence, no one will even notice. :)
