Request for Win2000 optimisation FAQ

I've just installed windows 2000 for the first time, and I'd like to get it it running to the best of its ability. Can someone point me in the direction of a good tweaking guide -- I could search the forums, but if there's a guide already out there that people trust, I'd prefer that. I'm mainly going to be running games, rather than any office or content creation tasks.

A similar guide for BIOS settings would also be useful.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Most important thing to check first of all is that Service Packs and all relevant Windows updates have been installed along with drivers for your motherboard.

I don't know of any specific guides which deal generally with gaming performances but you might find some of the information here helpful anyway

The following site is essential for using games under Windows 2000, particularly if they were developed whilst 2000 was still a twinkle in Microsoft's eye!

Maybe other users could post about BIOS settings? I've generally left the system to it's defaults unless there's something specific to change, such as the FSB setting for Athlon systems.

Cheers
