Over the weekend I installed SP2 onto my PC running WinXP Pro. The problem is that I can no longer FTP out to anywhere across the internet. I have 2 ethernet ports. One is an NIC with a static IP that is networked with my XBox. I can FTP to my XBox just fine.

The other port is built into my motherboard and is connected to my DSL modem. I can connect to the internet just fine and my XBox can also access the internet. After I installed SP2 the system tray icon for the motherboard port now has the yellow exclamation point icon over it and the connection is labeled as "Limited or no connectivity".

Another bit of info that may also be important is that my DSL connection is PPPoE and I'm using the built in Windows software to connect (as recommended by SBC). But everything else with my connection seems to be working fine, I simply can't FTP anywhere. I've tried disabling the firewall that SP2 enables and that didn't seem to solve the problem. So now I'm stuck and in need of some help.

Thanks!

Well, I tried opening port 21 and that didn't seem to do anything. What I don't get is I had the firewall turned off anyway, so it shouldn't have been blocking anything anyway. I've uninstalled SP2 for now... fvck SP2. If anyone has other ideas I'll give them a shot. I hate not being "up-to-date", but I need my FTP.
