Just wondering what sort of dealings people on-forum may have had with companies which deals in online reputation management - specifically getting stuff that may even be true but inconvenient removed from top Google searches, and continuing to do so for a reasonable fee.

You can do 90% of that shit yourself. Just do some targeted googling and opt out of stuff that is "you".

I'm sure you can, but looking to outsource to an effective party.

I've been talking to some SEO guys but I've started to wonder if it's overkill.

I have often wondered what it is they do. They obviously can't hack every website or delete every post about you. I imagine they create accounts and fill you with praise on yelp and other websites, or issue takedown notices on websites using lawyers.

I think they probably operate in much the samw way as SEO's do but geared towards people names. That is pretty much what I'm looking for.

In all seriousness its not for me - it's for someone I deal with who's really good at making enemies. It's not a debate whether it's needed or not - I am definitely looking into it, either by the SEO route I'm looking at now or ideally with someone who actually deals specifically with online - perhaps offline - reputations. Last option is getting a PR agency involved but I don't think it's really *that* warranted.

I thought it was debatable asking here as there's probably no-one who is worthwhile enough to *need* reputation management 😛 but thought I'd ask in case they'd done something similar.

reputation defender is the biggest fraud in the business world right now... pay money to mkae bad ratings go away???!?

Hmm lets think about how this might have been used in the past...

Fearing its reputation mght be damaged...Ford pays to have google searches remove information about explorer tires suffering crash causing blowout... as a result, 764 additional uninformed drivers have accidents on unsafe tires.

This service needs to be investigated and discontinued now...
