Reputable Bus service

I see online that there are a lot of cheap fares for bus travel from DC to NY. It looks like when you include tolls and gas that the bus would save money over driving. I'm just not sure which are reliable companies.

Can anyone suggest companies that they have had good dealings with for DC to NY bus service?

What about a train?

Edit: Looks like Amtrak starts at $72 for DC->NY (one way) 3.5 hour trip, which is a bit faster than driving (especially if you're going to be dealing with rush hour traffic near DC, Baltimore, Philly or NYC)

No idea if where you're leaving from has this, but here in Philly I can take the Chinatown bus roundtrip to either DC or NYC for $25. The drivers are a tad crazy, but it's a bargain. 😛

Amtrak is 150-250 round trip, Acela is 300-450 round trip. Bolt/Mega bus should run about 25-30 round trip and have free wifi.

Bus looks look 40-50 bucks at most, train will run me almost 300. Driving is in between in price, although the commute from DC into LI has the effect of sucking your life away so I have to factor that into the price.
