Noticed how many republican senators are claiming to have "split" with the Bush war policy lately??? Do you really think they "now" have decided to differ with GW? This is just a ploy to make Americans, who oppose the war in vast majority, to make Americans think these senators are "on your side". They are not!
Never pay attentioin to what they claim or say in the press. Just look at their voting record on these issues. Republican glue with the Bush war policy is what caused the democrats to fail in getting something passed to close down this war. Now, the very republicans claim they are splitting with the policy. Dont believe one word from them. Despite what they say, nothing has changed, excpet in wanting votes in 2008. Say anything, do anything. If a solid majority of democrats had been elected in the last election, this war would already have been closed down. I love how stupid they think the American voting population is.
They are all in bed with GW, and NOTHING has changed...

Well, this will be for his fourth term, so you wouldn't, perhaps shouldn't expect him to give up such a privledged life without trying to lie to keep it. You know lying by our public servants isn't the big deal it used to be.
 
I will reserve judgment---as the election of 08 looms ever closer---there are more than two main games being played. The main two games being played are which party will control congress---and the other for the President. And which party will be seen as clueless on Iraq. And poor old GWB&co.---they get to be the automatic lame rubber duckie but otherwise don't get to play.

And now the set of moderate Republicans can possibly go from being part of the GOP black ball on any democratic initiatives on Iraq---to possibly being the planners of future Iraqi policy. I am guessing GWB&co. will embrace a Republican withdrawal policy but will not touch anything coming from democrats. But what the larger GOP does, what GWB&co. does, what the democrats will do, and how the public will perceive things are giant question marks as of yet unknown.

But overall, I have to think that anything that gets congress into the Iraqi war planning and off the current grid lock is going to be overall a good thing. But I am sure the political process involved will have more than enough hypocrisies to gag a gaggle of maggots. Success have many fathers---but failure is GWB. And if the GOP divorces GWB, we have the potential to restore some sanity before the election. And every incumbent in congress wants to have something positive to come out of congress ---and meanwhile this gridlocked congress would only do credit to a collection of imbeciles.---but even then its better than the three congress's we had before it that let George do it.

Right now no real plan for the Iraq war can emerge from Congress. The GOP black ball was too strong. Now its collapsing. As for Hillary and Biden---they are now straddling the fence. And have their fall back positions down pat. No matter what they can blame GWB&co. for poor implementation. No matter what, its the GOP thats running scared now.

And soon all the GOP will have to choose---to run with GWB or run away from him. I think this spells the beginning of the end for GWB&co. And I am guessing we will soon be talking impeachment. And if its anything like watergate---its going to be the GOP greasing the skids to rid themselves of an embarrassment. The dems can always take the position that they got fooled by GWB---and soon its going to be a me too on the part of the GOP.



 
I don't think the Democrats should have another vote on Iraq. Those who voted against timetable should have to stand by their vote in 2008.

The agenda for America is to suffer fools like you for the sake of all others. It seems to me that Democrats were walking hand in hand with Bush leading us all into a happy little war with Iraq. It was only when elections came about that they suddenly decided it wasn't a good idea - probably because of certain loud elements of their support base.


So where is the difference other than party affiliation? Oh, I forget, your one of the ignorant one's here who judges a candidate based on the letter after their name or home state.

Could say the same thing about Hillary Clinton. She always trys to look like a moderate when running for office. Kind of like the speaker of the House. They said they would support the troops, but I never saw that from any of their actions.
 
Supporting the troops is not keeping them in Iraq because the president can't admit failure. Bush's vanity is not worth even one soldier's life. Hillary is a moderate on the issues.

The congressional bill authorizing use of force was contingent upon compliance with existing US treaties. Thus that bill did not authorize the war that took place since we violated international treaties. Therefore voting in favor of that bill cannot be construed as supporting our invasion of Iraq, particularly since congress was lied to and deceived regarding that matter. The current war in Iraq has not been authorized by any congressional bill.

"Synopsis: Bush attacked Iraq, against the decisions of the United Nations, and thus violated the UN Charter. Planning and committing a war of aggression is a violation of the Nuremberg Charter. According to the US Constitution these international treaties are part of the "supreme Law of the Land". Bush has violated the Nuremberg Charter and the UN Charter and is, therefore, subject to impeachment.
UN & Nuremberg Charters part of "the supreme Law of the Land"
Article VI of the US Constitution states that:

"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land;"

Because Bush violated International Laws that we agreed to by treaty, then he is also violating the supreme Law of the Land which is an impeachable offense. Note that it says "or which shall be made" so treaties signed after the Constitution was adopted are still covered.
Violation of The United Nations Charter
Chapter 1, Article 2 of the UN Charter states:

3.All Members shall settle their international disputes by peaceful means in such a manner that international peace and security, and justice, are not endangered.
4.All Members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, or in any other manner inconsistent with the Purposes of the United Nations.

Bush lied to the UN and to Congress about the seriousness of the threat from Iraq, and invaded Iraq in defiance of a vote from the UN Security Council. His actions inflamed the Arab world and set a dangerous precedent for any other country that wants to defy the UN and start their own war.
Violation of the Nuremberg Charter
Principle Vl of the Nuremberg Charter states:

The crimes hereinafter set out are punishable as crimes under; international law:
a. Crimes against peace:
i. Planning, preparation, initiation or waging of a war of aggression or
a war in violation of international treaties, agreements or assurances;
ii .Participation in a common plan or conspiracy for the accomplishment
of any of the acts mentioned under (i).

Bush's invaded a sovereign country that had not threatened the United States and had no ability to do so."

Richard Lugar isn't up for re-election anytime soon, so him wanting to get votes is out of the question.
He still has 6 more years to go before thinking about votes.
