Rep. Steve King (R-IA) clarifies his recent remarks that we must allow dogfighting since we allow people fighting.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKJ7oVy20eo

Now, in watching this consider that this man, who apparently doesn't have a clue as to what is legal and illegal in America, is in charge of making the laws of the United States of America.

I will now go into the corner and weep for my country.

*EDIT* It has come to my attention that some people may believe that a US member of the House of Representitives would generally know what is legal and illegal in America. However, PLEASE do not do what Rep. King suggests is perfectly legal in this country. He may be mistaken in that EVERYTHING he suggests is legal is in fact illegal.

Just remember the whole "CONTEXT" thread we just had.

Uh, you have the whole context.

The guy is upset that included in a recent bill is a a federal law against dogfighting. As he explains it the fact we allow people to box somehow dimishes human dignity since we don't ban people fighting but ban dogfighting. That in itself, to me defyies logic but that is not the point of the video. And, btw, he is not necessarily for dogfighting, he explains. Although I don't see him saying human boxing is ok.

The video is incredible since he uses an example of what he thinks is legal but is so illegal it violates about 100 laws.

Either read the post or stop your dumb stupid trolling.

Quit putting words in people’s mouths you little bitch.

"we need to respect humans more than we do animals. Whenever we start elevating animals up to above that of humans, we've crossed a moral line. For example, if there is a sexual predator out there who has impregnated a young girl, that sexual predator can pick that girl up off the playground and haul her across the state line and force her to get an abortion to eradicate the evidence of his crime and bring her back and drop her off, and that's not against the law in the United States Of America.

I have told Wayne Pecelli and the people who believe we should focus all of our efforts on anthing that they can bring that limits activities around animals that we need to respect and revere human life first, animal rights second. “

Troll this you asshat.

Please do not engage in excessive vitriol. Call him an asshat, or stupid, if you must, but "you little bitch" crosses a line. There is no need for this. This is just a warning, but please take this warning to heart. Next time you will be infracted.

You do understand that it is illegal to do what the Congressman says is is not against the law?

And you understand the context? He clearly thinks that things like kidnapping are not agains thw law.

Or are you just....well if the Congressman is that ignorant and stupid I guess there must be others that ignorant and stupid.

LOL!

I thought it funny because the post was about a comment on dogs, then he uses the word "bitch", which if I am not mistaken is a female dog.

The forcing her to get an abortion as a minor who is not your child violates about a hundred laws.
I bet a lawyer could come up with about 200 different laws the guy violated from trespassing on school grounds to burglary to assault to, well, you get the point

That's one the meanings of the word "bitch". It has others as well. See if you can pick the one that best matches with the context of Matt1970's post.

Back to the OP: Unfortunately the Republican party doesn't have a lock on ignorant people who get elected to federal/state/local government. Ignorance cuts across all divisions of people. While what Rep. King is suggesting is idiotic, it pales in comparison to what's being said or implied in ads and direct statements from both sides of the presidential campaign.

I did. He meant female dog. Dogs were used in the post. Seemed to fit. Are you that sensitive that you cannot see that?

What did he say that was wrong?

The part about taking a minor across state lines to get an abortion? I don't think that is legal. There are provisions in the law to make it legal for a minor to get an abortion with out her parent's permission, or even their knowledge.

I'm not sure where you get "sensitive" from what I said. I guess it came from the same reasoning that thinks "Quit putting words in people’s mouths you little bitch." means Matt1970 was calling techs a female dog. I wasn't aware that female dogs could put words in peoples mouths.

As far as the OP; this isn't the first time Rep. King has made ignorant statements. One can find many more examples by looking at his political history. We can only hope that he'll soon be voted out.

You are correct. Mr. King does say some outlandish things from time to time. Thank the Lord that Democrats never say anything stupid or outlandishly wrong. Really, they don't.

For example, if there is a sexual predator out there who has impregnated a young girl, say a 13 year old girl, and it happens in America more times than you and I would like to think. That sexual predator could pick that girl up off the playground of the middle school and haul her across the state line and force her to get an abortion to eradicate the evidence of his crime and bring her back and drop her off at the swing set and that's not against the law in the United States of America.
Okay, this gets the biggest "WTF?!" from me, but perhaps there are no specific federal laws, but there are state laws (in each of the 50 states.) Obviously, it's against the law; perhaps he knows the distinction, thus isn't outright lying, but rather, trying to use the emotions of his constituents to think "that's outrageous!" with the justaposition of his comments about animals right afterwards, to trivialize that portion of what he's saying.

...that limits activity around animals that we need to respect and revere human life first, animal life second. That is my stand, it is a moral stand. And, it certainly is not a stand in favor of animal fighting, and there is no record that would say that either.
OP have a problem with this?!

From the video you probably should have linked to:
It is a federal crime to watch animals fight or to induce someone else to watch animals fight, but it's not a federal crime to watch people fighting. There's something wrong with the priorities of people thinking like that.
Assholes in journalism would twist this around to saying "King just said that dog fighting should be legal!" Perhaps King is saying, "human fighting, MMA, etc., are barbaric sports that are past their time."

Thus, I think this is very dishonest & unethical journalism on the part of Chris Matthews: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgtBjSAui3k

However, the part about him suggesting that Obama's mom sent a telegram from Africa to Hawaii?! WTF?! Thus, I agree that King is at the very least pandering to his constituents, but the slam piece on him on Hard Ball was unwarranted.
