This is shameful and should be fully prosecuted. It seems to me that states still haven't learned from the mess of Florida in 2000? Perhaps we need some serious reform...

For all the partisan trolls crawling over each other to decry the "party of lies, etc.", you probably shouldn't forget that the democrat party practically invented voter fraud. Vote early, vote often, vote if you are dead (or a pet)!

Many Americans don't know anything other than Walmart exists. Someone has to get their lazy butts to register. Besides, if they registered in front of a grocery store, in all likelyhood they'd expect to vote at one, so it really isn't a vote lost

The company has been largely, if not entirely funded, by the Republican National Committee. Similar complaints have been received in Reno where the registrar has asked the FBI to investigate

And I absolutely agree with you. If true (there already appears to be misinformation in the article regarding the funding source of this group), this is outrageous and these people should certainly be prosecuted.

However, you cannot blame some of us for reacting defensively to this thread when the OBVIOUS intent was to bash republicans and claim that we are all dirty, lying cheating scumbags simply because a couple people committed election fraud.

After all, you didn't see me coming in here and accusing all democrats of being child molesters just because the democratic former governor of Oregon admitted to being a rapist. Statements like those below make it clear how lacking in intelligence some members are.

In at least one case, they apparently set up tables outside a DMV office in Las Vegas. I imagine the people registering presumed (incorrectly, of course) that they were representatives of the state of Nevada.

I wouldn't blame it completely on disenfranchisement. Registration does allow a more centralized verification, and distributes that verification more evenly over time. If voters had to be verified every vote and at every polling place, it would be a nightmare to administer.

Now, as a result of the desire of Republicans to steal this election, thousands of voters may have lost one of the most fundamental rights of our country, the right to vote.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) paid to solely register Republican voters in Nevada. A Chandler, Ariz., political consulting firm, Sproul & Associates, was hired by the Republican National Committee to register Republicans in Nevada, according to the Associated Press. According to FEC filings, since July 14, 2004, Sproul and Associates has received $488,959 form the RNC.

Democratic Party loses bid to reopen voter registration

District Judge Valerie Adair on Friday denied the Democratic Party's request to reopen voter registration to voters whose forms might have been destroyed by a Republican-backed organiza- tion.

In denying the Democratic Party's petition, Adair said extending registration could "open the floodgates" to allow people not affected by the purported fraud to register. Such a move would be inviting "additional fraud and manipulation," she said.

"This court does not believe that there is any way to ensure that only those individuals legitimately affected will register if the time period is extended," the judge said. "There is no guarantee that hundreds of people will not seek to register or claim that they have been impacted."

The appropriate remedy under Nevada law is for those who believe they've been wrongfully denied the right to vote to file individual lawsuits against the Clark County registrar asking to be included on the voter rolls, Adair said.

"The interests of the affected individuals do not justify overriding the statutes enacted by our Legislature and embarking upon a highly dangerous path where the claims of a single individual can impact the voter registration practice of an entire county," Adair said.

The judge pointed to a disclaimer on registration forms that says if voters do not return registration forms themselves or personally mail them to the elections office, they risk not being registered.
