If a swing state adopts such; you will see other states controlled by Democrats but on the Republican side of the ledger adapt such. Every electoral vote is important; to ensure that their side gets the extra vote is critical.
Proportional representation is one way to ensure that for an underdog.

You are not connecting the dot of the 3 states they chose to push this law in. I agree with you that proportional voting is better and represents the states better. Actually just do away with EC altogether.

But you dont see the GOP asking for proportional voting in KS, OK, NE etc. Its the states they chose that they saw an advantage in and are trying to change the game in order to possibly secure a victory again in my lifetime.

Can they do this? Yes. Is it fishy and a slimeball move? Yes

Politicians would just campaign, and pander to, large population centers.

I think that's a worse system than we have now.

I think you way underestimate the amount of people not living in major population centers. The numbers dont add up and they would lose badly if they tried this.

Basically the top 90 population cities in the US combined is only about 20% of the US population.

I want everyone's vote to count based on what makes sense for the U.S. in the 21st century. I don't give a fuck what system made sense for 13 mostly independent states 230 years ago.

Swing states are just that; you do not know which way they will be called.

Proportional allows the underdog (in any state) to have their votes mean more.

It also reduces the impact of swing states.

If proportional would give the Democrats 3 votes from Texas instead of 0 that could compensate for worrying about swings in Nevada.

lol you think republicans think like that, the whole point is to rig state elections that would benefit republicans ONLY. The texas GOP isn't going to go this route to give Democrats votes.
