Republicans make fun of France

Kansas City, Missouri-AP -- France's reluctance to go to war against Iraq is bringing some ridicule from some top Republicans.
House Majority Whip Roy Blunt entertained a Missouri Republican convention with cracks about France. He asked how many Frenchmen it would take to defend Paris. His punchline -- "It's not known, it's never been tried" -- drew loud laughs and applause.

He also said he heard a French rifle was being auctioned on the Internet described as "Never shot, dropped once."

And speaking today on Fox News Sunday, Republican Senator John McCain said France reminds him of an aging actress from the 1940s who's still trying to get by on her looks -- but who "doesn't have the face for it."

Those are pretty funny but I'm not too comfortable with jokes coming from our government, no matter which party. Quite childish. "We don't agree with you so we'll make fun of you."

Hey making fun of the French is much easier than working out a diplomatic solution with. Obviously the Supporters of Bush's Administration feel than when faced with a tough job it's better to give up and deride the task than to bust your ass to get it done.

Ok, so who does not make fun of the french?

i guess the republicans did not listen to frances speech during the last UN session.

they had hands down the best speech. it was not complicated just alot of straight talk with no bs.

it was actually the first time in the UN's history that a speech that ended in a standing ovation.

not to deny powels speech his was very good it might have been his best ever but it paled in comparison ( and it did not have a standing ovation )

Yes, they said they were wrong to have signed resolution 1441 and they got a standing ovation for it. Iraq has purchased the French veto with oil contracts.

It wouldn't be funny, except in the last 2 world wars, we saved them from the germans. and if anyone attacks them now, we'll have to save them again.

Ever see the list of French war heroes..........
