Conquistador Robs McDonald considers raising gas tax by indexing it for inflation.
Spending and regulations have been excessively high in virginia and I think the balanced budget legislation was a mistake because they gave Virginia high taxes and high spending... you can have excessive spending and still have a balanced budget.
The fact that VA's "private" contractors suck or at least aren't as good as the alternatives doesn't help the matter. If the counties or individuals owned land, then the people would have more control over it than some centralized State-public corporatist partnership.
Prices are high as hell in VA, unemployment is below the national average yet a Republican Admin needs more revenue... why doesn't Robs McDonalds run for President one day? All we have are Poochanelli and Bolling running for successor... I don't see a Jeffersonian Democrat winning.
Note that I agree that the roads here are terrible. That doesn't change the fact that I think there should be a new Virginia Constitution that gives all the land to the counties, that takes away the State's power to tax, and that repudiates 2/3 of the existing debt. The legislature was talking about decentralizing, but I heard it didn't happen because legislators NoVA balked at the idea.
