guys, realize that bashing their religion/stupidity (yeah, we all know they're interconnected) is just going to strengthen their case in their own minds. we're being 'intolerant.' 🙄

the real issue is the complete lack of understanding concerning separation of church and state.

the real question here, is why isn't anyone praying to the flying spaghetti monster to grant their political/socioeconomic goals? FSM will grant us beautiful, beautiful marxist communism if we pray hard enough. :awe:

Or worse yet might Pat be somewhat democratic, and call forth that earth quake that smites democrats and republican alike for our collective sins. And only later blame the depravity of a single political party or foreign entity.

Please Please spare me Massah Pat, I know not what they do. But I too want to take credit for what earth quakes do. But in the grand scheme of things, I refuse to take credit for all the negative aspects of earth quakes do.
 
If they knew anything about Christianity they would know that God only listens to people that are honest between him and them, and it being Washington that isn't going to happen. People who also appear to do good things to get their name in headlines , like this stunt also get no points.

"Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward."

In other words don't expect God to favor you because you are on TV telling everyone all the good you are doing, that 15 minutes of fame, that was your reward.

It makes me ill how often the idea of prayer is misused.
People that say things like "I'm going to pray to God that things change for me" have lost their way. Would you answer the needs of someone that only talks to you when they want something or have something to complain about ? I know if it were me and the only time I heard from you was when you needed something from me I would close the door in your face.
 
If I was american, I'd feel intensely uncomfortable and creeped-out regarding stuff like this. I wouldn't want to mix in religion into government. Any god(s) may rule their respective celesitial spheres or whatever; here on earth WE call the shots and no politicians should make appeals to the divine or otherwise because it just isn't right. Nobody elected any god to a position of authority in our society, so they have no place there either.

Besides, it just looks fucking stupid too, praying to a flying spaghetti monster like that. Why's he wagging back and forth like an idiot? Why's he talking like he's working himself up into hysteria? The way I see it hysteria never helped anyone with their thinking, so what he's doing is switching his brain off and inciting others into switching theirs off too, which is even worse.

There is only one fucking thing that makes anyone a Christian, the rest is so fucking divided up between congregations and withing congregations that there are millions of different forms of the rest of Christianity today. Besides, everyone is different.

These people are Christians, just like you are a Christian, the fuckheads wailing on the floor speaking in toungs at some places are Christian just like you too, you don't get to claim monopoly on faith because YOU believe that what you believe is right.

There are no *true* Christians, not even one. No true Scotsmen either.

what's a 'true christian'?

it's obviously not anywhere in this country, we've been crazy fundies since the puritans came over, gave their life to god, and somehow managed by luck to not die of their own idiocy.

are you referencing, like, actual followers of christ?

A "true christian" is what every christian believes he is but when someone like him does something bad then that guy or gal isn't one of them there "true christians".

That's how i understand it.

I don't think there is one actual follower of Christ in todays world, how could there be, how would they even know?

Separation of church and state is a political and legal doctrine that government and religious institutions are to be kept separate and independent from each other.[1] The term most often refers to the combination of two principles: secularity of government and freedom of religious exercise.[2]


This has nothing to do with senartors or other working in government getting together and praying....
 
Fine, let them pray to God asking him to make the bill fail. God will answer their prayers, but his answer may not be one that they like.
