Shortly after multiple networks projected that Republicans would retain control of the House, Speaker John Boehner took to the stage with a message that looked ahead to the battle over the fiscal cliff - the GOP isn't budging on taxes.

"With this vote, the American people have also made clear that there is no mandate for raising tax rates," Boehner told supporters at the Ronald Reagan building in Washington.

Surprise surprise. Republicans don't compromise or change, they just find new reasons to throw blame elsewhere. Here we come fiscal cliff.

John Boehner is a relentless fool.....he lacks all the characteristics that make one a good, reasonable statesman.

He faced a platform of change and countered with an absolute line in the sand. How can he justify that line with his constituancy and then bash the opponents goal for his?

He walked that back a bit with a second statement that I'm still too groggy to go looking for. But it was pretty poor form for SotH to say this moments after a president is elected and if the Republicans want to continue alienating reasonable people over the next four years they are welcome to.
