Republicans: Are You SURE You Don't Want Huntsman Back?

http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/12155

He sure as hell knows his shit. As a liberal, I may not agree with everything he says on domestic policy, but I have to admit he knows what he's talking about when it comes to international relations. I'd be completely comfortable having him being in charge of foreign policy.

"Republicans" only care about wedge issues(gays, abortion, etc), oh and guns.

They dont give crap about substantive policy or anything that really has an impact on America.

Huntsman? Nah, the rabid right has spoken: "He is not rabid enough". Santorum took note and is marvelously pandering to them with good effect.

Huntsman can't get the (R) nomination because he speaks mandarin and his kids are adopted from foreign nations. That's extremely suspicious, and if you don't agree then you are extremely suspicious too!

Wow, lots of stupid comments here.

Personally, I liked Huntsman. His issue is not within himself, but in how both parties do their primaries. To win a primary, you must be an extremist. To win a general, you must be a centrist.

The reason why he did not do well is that in the primay you only cater to your base...and this includes the very vocal and very active extreme portion. This portion makes up only a small about of the overall nation, but they have a lopsided amount of power in a primary. You must cater to these people during the primary elections or you will lose. Once the general election rolls around, you have to be able to convince the fence sitters and non-extremists of the other party you are good for them as well as good for your own party.

This is why Ron Paul always shows well during primaries but cannot do well in the general.

Good points.......

Even if I were straight I wouldn't find anything at all appealing about Sarah Palin. It's mainly because of her "golly gee dohnchah knohh" accent. I'm from and live in Wisconsin, but even friends of mine who live elsewhere in the country say I barely have any of that accent.

I like MILF's with a brain tho...

Just keep her mouth full...and no one said you had to respect her in the morning. 😉

Ausm has to hand in his hetero card, but zddersw gets a pass on this one (due to not having a hetero card). 🙂

EDIT: Besides, you could always send her out to hunt for food, butcher it, then cook it up for you while you stayed home playing vid games.

Pawlenty would probably be more missed than Huntsman; people at least got a chance to vote for someone other than Huntsman, whereas Pawlenty dropped out after the summer straw polls.

Jon Huntsman is so yesterday, girlfriend.... 😀
The question is, will there be a brokered republican convention?
That seems to be the direction this is heading.
So... who will it be that rides in on a white horse to save the day?
Who knows?
But I do know who it WILL NOT be...
It will not be anyone that could actually beat Obama in 2012.
Any potential republican candidate with half a brain will wait until 2016 for their shot.

So who might that face be on that white horse?
Sarah Palin.
Palin for the first time "could" possibly be the one.
I always knew Palin would never run for president on her own, simply because she is just too cheap and too tight to spend a dime of her own money. Not in this crap shoot.
But... now... we have million dollar check writers, sugar daddies, that can completely fund any single candidate from A thru Z. Music to anyone like Palin's ears. Sweet sweet music.
That could make the difference. After all, she has the spare time available.
Her schedule is totally like, "open". She loves to travel, loves to bullshit, loves the attention. And God knows, she would love to get away from those damn kids for the Summer.
So this opportunity fits her like a glove.
Free money, travel, fame, bullshitting, "AND" the white horse (if get my drift). Tada!

And for the first time ever, anyone on this forum could actually and realistically run for the presidency, or any high office. Yes THIS COULD BE YOU!!!
Make your move. Take your pick.
All you need is one, just one million dollar sugar daddy willing to write check(s) with your name on them. Just one. Wow. Imagine.
So why are you wasting time sitting there reading this? 😀

Huntsman is a dumbfuck if he had anything to do with the video in which his campaign attempted to smear Dr. Paul. Only an idiot would try to do something like that.

I think mainstream GOP leadership knows this is a loser. This was one of the top 2 stories this week and Fox News Sunday didn't even discuss. Evangelicals/conservatives are sinking the GOP ship.

Let's just grab a popcorn and watch where they're heading. Unfortunate turn of events along with Obama's political calculation are pushing the GOP over the cliff. The turnout in GOP primaries are depressingly low, and you can imagine what kind of people (no offense to them) are turning out to vote. Couple that with their anger over contraception, they vote for Santorum. The end result is that a tiny minority faction among the GOP are taking the driver's seat for the whole GOP.

Hope the GOP will get their sanity back otherwise they will donate many congressional seats. Forget about the presidential election.

But then again, people might have learned a bit from 2010 elections. The so-called "Tea Party" movement elected many fresh faces in the local/national congressional elections. We thought they would work for small government, fiscal responsibility, getting rid of excess regulations, etc. But what has happened in those legislatures?

1. Pass draconian anti-abortion laws. (Vaginal probes, Personhood amendments, etc.)
2. Pass new voter ID laws. (solution in search of problem)
3. Pass unconstitutional anti-immigration laws. (police state?)
4. Pass gerrymandered electoral maps. (no surprise there)
5. Pass laws that decree "no-sharia" laws in courts. (Geez..)
6. Pass laws that are intrusive/offensive for social welfare recepients.
5. Etc.

These kinds of legislation swept across many southern states with the initiative from "Tea Party" members. Even sadder truth is, that most of these legislations are products of few radical right-wing lawyers in Washington, D.C., or elsewhere. For example, the Arizona's anti-imigration law was drafted by this person (not an Arizonan), and this person went onto sell his drafts to many other states. So basically what it means is that while many state GOP is enacting these dubious laws instead of what they are supposed to do (small government, hello?), the primary beneficiaries of their works are these established lunatic lawyers since they're being paid for their drafts, by tax-payer dollars.

As soon as you can show any evidence at all that Governor Huntsman's campaign was in any way involved with the production of that video, I shall consider your post something more than just another Paulist delusion.

edit: I should be careful, especially were I you, in applying "dumbfuck" to someone as accomplished as Governor Huntsman. Your use of the term strongly invokes my sense of irony.
