Conservatives generally avoid all sciences actually. Soft science, hard science, it doesn't matter. People working in science and research in any capacity are overwhelmingly liberal.

I wonder what they classify as science. The vast majority of engineers, metallurgists, and chemists I've met have been politically conservative libertarian. I can see how the soft sciences would radically skew numbers, as would government and many not-for-profits - when you're paid by government it's difficult to not imagine more government as a good thing. And much of science today is involved in telling people what to do and what to think - like other authoritarian fields such as teaching and journalism, those are naturally going to attract more on the left.

Anecdotal evidence is not very useful. I know tons of engineers, and there isn't a single conservative among them.

Anyways though, I thought it was interesting. Scientists in general have seemingly long since dropped conservatism
