Republican Party Has Lowest Popularity in 24 Years

https://www.conservativereview.com/...blican-party-at-lowest-popularity-in-24-years

Pew poll link: http://www.people-press.org/2016/04/28/gops-favorability-rating-edges-lower/

More people view the Republican Party unfavorably than at any point since 1992, according to polling data from the Pew Research Center.

Pew reports:

Currently 33% of the public has a favorable impression of the Republican Party, while 62% have an unfavorable view.
The GOP’s image has declined significantly even since last October, just a few months ago. And why? Because some Republicans themselves have shifted their opinion on the party:

In October, 37% viewed the Republican Party favorably and 58% viewed it unfavorably. The decline in favorability since then has largely come among Republicans themselves: In the current survey, 68% of Republicans view their party positively, down from 79% last fall.

Not surprising given the party's implosion this cycle.
Fortunately for the Dems, they are not suffering the same.

Not surprised.. I wanted GB's 2nd term in 92, dole in 96 and mccain in 00.

How far we've come in 15 years.

And like Romney on the night he lost his bid against Obama, a lot of Repubs are wondering why it is when they've had both houses of Congress and the Supreme Court to make things go their way.

It's not surprising. If you're a Trump supporter you're probably dismayed by the machinations the party is using to try and deny him the nomination. If you're not a Trump supporter you probably either didn't realize the crazies were on the bus or didn't think there was enough of them to take the wheel.

Excellent analysis.

Are you serious? Hillary Clinton is extremely unpopular among every demographic. She's just another neocon pretending to be a liberal.

This is another one of those years where we see just how broken the system is. Trump's support seems to be entirely based on the fact that the establishment hates him. Does anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine tells some woman to stay away from George because he's bad news, and this causes that woman to be strongly attracted to George? "I'm a bootlegger!" That's this election.

If the establishment wasn't completely retarded, they would stop Trump by showing absolute support for him. He would just be another blowhard conservative to be ignored and forgotten.

Apples and oranges though. The problems the GoP is having with their presidential race is just for starters. The situation in Washington has become downright toxic. The problem isn't that Republicans can't work with Democrats, it's that Republicans can no longer work with Republicans. The moderates and more sensible people in the party are constantly ridiculed as "RINO's" and marginalized by the significantly more passionate and cock sure extremists in the party. They can't work together for much of anything other than Not Obama and that alone is no longer enough to keep to ensure party cohesion. It's become such a cesspool no one even wants to take the reins, Ryan didn't even want to become the god damn speaker of the house when offered it's so bad.

If only the GoP's only major problem right now was unlikable presidential candidates.
