Republican government shutdown 2025 v2.0

Mike Johnson personally responsible for continuing the shutdown with his "my way or the highway" approach.
Mikey better be telling his Republican pals in the Senate to pass his bill then, right? Also, Mikey is still blocking the swearing in of Grijalva in order to block the Epstein petition. Maybe Mikey should spend less time protecting pedophiles and more time governing.

Anyway, how do the flunkies in the background on these shots keep their facial expressions in sync with the head cheese? Are they watching monitors? "Oh shit, he's frowning! Quick, frown."

Got any words for that load of crap?

Summary, details, if you are for or against... something to discuss?

Sure, it's actually very easy to summarize what's going on.

If you're older than 50, you will never live to see pre-2024 America. Likely your kids won't, either.

A Democrat narrowly winning in 2028 (a big if) with a likely gridlocked Congress and half the country hating them won't be able to get much done.

Well he has to bring them back in 2 weeks since that’s when the CR was set to expire. And then he has no choice but to swear in the D house member that won her special election 2 weeks ago. So discharge petition gets passed and he has to figure out how to further delay releasing the Epstein files

He doesn't have to do anything.

He's the one in power. He can let it stay shutdown infinitely because we know SCOTUS will bail him out over elections.

Fuck 'em.
Oh, absolutely, but I'm saying that keeping it going longer probably isn't in the GOP's favor.

I have a number of friends that are also not getting paid right now, some who are still working (and very much not supporters of all this nonsense).

"Yay" on the first part.

"Booooo" on the second.

Oddly enough, one could legitimately blame Carter. 😛 It was Carter's solicitor who wrote the opinion that concluded that Congress failing to pass a budget required the government to shut down. Prior to this opinion, the government would continue operating, in violation of the Anti-deficiency Act.

As of right now we are expecting and preparing for this to run through Thanksgiving.

I don’t see any external push for either side to cave. With them paying service members for the mid month paycheck it’ll be several more weeks before lack of military pay begins to pressure Washington.

My biggest fear is if this goes on long enough there will be massive attrition from civil servants leaving to find paying jobs.

He looks like an angry Harry Potter to me.

Am I the only one who think Mike Johnson looks like Pinocchio as an adult?
See above. Harry Potter who didn't defeat Voldemort. (Did he? I forget been awhile)

Two things.
Put the two together....
Widespread starvation (and revolution) may be mere weeks / months away. All so Republicans can END healthcare for millions.
At some point we will all have to agree. With MAGA Nazis, their killing of people is the whole point of them seizing power.

The previous election was a contest between life or death, and Americans chose poorly.

Too bad some of you may die but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make!
