Republican government shutdown 2025 v2.0

IronWing

No Lifer
For the second time this year, the Republican majority in the House and Senate, in cahoots with Donald Trump, are threatening to shutdown the federal government due to their incompetence and adherence to their degenerate ideology. As the majority party, the Republicans don’t need a single Democratic vote to pass a budget bill and have, in fact, locked the House and Senate Democrats out of the budget process. Thune’s and Johnson’s dereliction of duty have brought us to this point.

Even today, at this late stage, Thune is maintaining the fiction that the Democrats have any ability to block the Republicans’ bill. Instead of governing, the Republicans are playing silly games. The Republican inability to govern is rooted in their failed ideology of greed, corruption, and mean-spirited stupidity.

Seems like a government shutdown will be an opportunity to increase grifting from crypto. Gotta weaken that dollar in order to push a fake currency.

The Republican Party has always been the proponent of shutting down the government. Any capitulance from Democrats to the fascist regime currently in power should be met by a primary of those Democrats.

I'm sure the all-powerful leftists in charge of everything, like George Soros, various communists and socialists, ANTIFA, and limousine liberal media types will ensure those primaries happen.

With the conservatives on the court deciding that complete bullshit "pocket rescission" is allowed, why should Democrats support any CR if their colleagues have no problem voting for rescission packages (as they did a few weeks ago) to change the contours of deals after the fact, or when the executive simply refuses to spend the money it is legally obligated to spend?

You misspelled the nazis on the court

Schumer will cave again. This time he'll point to Trump saying he'll do mass firings if the gov't shuts down as the reason.

-Saw Schumer on PBS the other day, dude is so out of his element it was a relatively gentle and friendly interview but holy shitballs the guy is still tiredly drawling on about facts and percentages and "the American people" garbage like it's 1954 or some shit.

Dem leadership doesn't have the fucking balls to play hardball with Trump. I'm starting to see the 'appeal' of Trump if for nothing but his contrast to this pussy ass bitches trying to hold the line on norms and process.

Just take the Republican playbook from every single fucking shut down threat ever and throw it back in Trump's face. Vote no across the line, it's the Republican's government and the Republican shutdown but no.

God we're so fucked.

Let’s see how many investors lock in their gains between Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be watching with my finger on the trigger.

SCOTUS is so flagrantly breaking the law for Trump that we should probably defund it. If the conservative majority thinks Trump should be king then they can write up their basically non-existent opinions in Alito's garage.

They should create the Samuel Alito Humiliation Circuit, where he has to cover a wide area all by himself at the district court level, and then have an appeals court above him that overturns most of his rulings, just for lols.

It’s pretty clear from Trump’s rhetoric yesterday and today that he is going to make sure that today’s meeting is a failure. Trump wants this shutdown. The media has been going right along with the Republican narrative that the Democrats are the cause when they are bystanders to the Republican infighting that has prevented the passage of the Republicans’s own budget bills and the passage of CR.

Get begging emails and text messages everyday from the Dems (happens if you ever dare to contribute). They ain't getting anymore from me if they don't shut this farce of a government down.

Vought plans to try to RIF like the entire federal government if there is a shutdown and that's sure gonna make the news. It's dumb and puts Trump on the hook for another thing that people won't like but he doesn't really care about.

Makes me think they'd use it as an excuse for some sort of martial law type situation to counter any negative response, or just the void it creates. Lines up with all the generals being recalled.

I totally agree. The Dems are weak as hell now. Trump does what he wants and everyone just bows down. I like to think I ride with the Dems but damn, they have NO ONE to go against Emperor Trump.

Schumer already wrote a strongly worded letter, the likes of which I'm sure Herr Trump has never seen!

And continues to have not ever seen it, I'm sure, it probably went directly into the trash.
But Schumer WROTE it, what more do you expect from the man? He doesn't take such extreme actions lightly, you know! You can't just go around writing strongly worded letters like it's a casual activity!
