If Bill can get blowjobs in the oval office I don't see how this impacts this guys ability to perform his job. But he's stepping down, as Republicans usually do. I guess he should have probably taken bribes and stuffed the cash in a freezer and he would have been fine. Republicans seem to have 'ethical' lapses while Democrats seemingly have illegal ones. The difference is one party actually holds themselves accountable and asks them to resign the other puts them into Obama cabinet positions.

Maybe the man from FNE needs to tell this to Dan Burton, Larry Craig, and Mr. Villars.

And I can raise you an Elliot Spitzer.

But all in all, getting in to sex scandals is a bipartisan grand tradition in the USA.

Why, FNE, should you even dare try making it into a partisan issue? Because trying that stunt simple will not work factually.

As it is, I have more sympathy for his wife and children, but maybe we all should reach into our hearts and find the courage to forgive and forget. Sometimes when it comes to sex,the spirit may be committed, but the flesh is often all too weak. These two certainly were not the first and they certainly will not be the last to fall victim to lust.

I hear this a lot, but I don't think I have seen any examples. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what people mean when they say this. Is it being anti-abortion? Or what?

Yeah...I'm always perplexed by this as well. When do repubs claim they are morally superior than dems? So if I vote for a dem...I'm voting for immorality...really?

I don't care who the guy bangs, it's not like politicians have any morals to begin with. What's sad is it becomes such a big deal that warrants resignation and media attention.

I could of sworn there were some illegal lapses during the Bush/Cheney era....something to do with war and torturing.....

has any modern politician ever not run on family values?

they don't take the wife and kids out on the campaign trail and trot that out at rallies and speeches for their health.

Yeah, my Congressman Barney Frank. As long as he does his job & brings home the bacon to Mass he can sleep with any adult he wants to, even a guy running an escort service out of townhouse.

It comes down to Repubs don't like sex [except with their mistresses], they think Dems spending all their time screwing whatever moves. One of the big shockers that came long after a disgraced Nixon left the White House was the news that he had an affair with a Chinese waitress. So much for his dutiful wife Pat in her good Republican cloth coat.

This happens all the time with both sides of the aisle. It is slightly funny that conservatives tend to stress family values more so than liberals when they're both pulling stunts like this, but they're both just as guilty.

To some extent we can say a heterosexual affair is not exactly family values, but when its a homosexual affair, its a slightly different kettle of fish. Especially if the miscreant in question campaigned on bashing homosexuals.

But when we deal with someone like Barney Frank, who acknowledges his sexual orientation, the scandal might lie in being caught engaging in a heterosexual affair.

And in my mind, there are far worse political sins that being caught in a little sexual hanki panky.

Hehehehe, another poor sick bastard who had no idea that self hate is just what it purports to be, self hate. The poor ignorant man, like all of you, had no idea he was out to destroy any success he attained because he didn't feel he was worthy. One can be the greatest warrior but is helpless when he doesn't know who his real enemy is.

You feel like shit and worthless enough to die. Be careful out there.

He felt ashamed because he needs to feel how much shame he carries and how that shame makes all his success so totally empty. He doesn't know it but he is trying to relive what happened to him that he doesn't want to remember but instead of feeling his real shame he created a substitute. We always bring about the very things we fear.

But you won't hear this because you too are asleep.
It's a real pity too because there's nothing wrong with anybody.

No... it's stuff like this:

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100516/D9FNN86O0.html

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Republican Senate candidate Marco Rubio told an anti-gay marriage group Saturday the country is relying too much on the government, in part because of a breakdown of family and faith values over the last 50 years.

If you don't recall, Bush Jr. pandered to the fundamentalist crowd too, claiming to be a "born again" believer and had the support of Dobson and other fundies.

Have to disagree, I think the downfall of our civilization is due to excessive manscaping and spending too much time in the salon.

I wasn't actually agreeing -- I was just giving kranky another piece of evidence pointing towards the repubs using the "family values" slogan

Frankly, I'm not sure I buy the idea that we were ever strong on family values, that as a society on a whole, we were much more "good" -- that is, when the fundies use this family value slogan, they're implying our society has gone from God-fearing to satan worshiping evil. Rather, the increase in divorce rates and so on probably has more to do with the changes in society thanks to technological advances... globalization and the new cash flows (its all about the money) and how it's no longer necessary to depend on a family for personal stability.

Haha... I just saw this...

"There's your punchline -- "congressman shot pro-abstinence video with his mistress." Just a huge embarrassment."

Yep he shot a video with his mistress about abstinence. The video has been removed. I am sure it will pop up again. The video that was removed was put up by his office.

Here it is...
