I am getting pretty tired of paying $150 a month for cell service, really thinking about Republic Wireless. Any one with this service care to chime in with how it goes in the real world? Is it an OK experience ready to move to 40 a month for me and the wife...

I have one ordered, won't get it till Jan though.

Unproven business model, etc, older gen Android phone, doesn't jump from WiFi to cell service if you're physically moving... Drops the call...

I just signed up for TMobile. They aren't as cheap as republic or Virgin Mobile unless you get a Value Family plan, in which case, for $50/month you get unlimited talk & text, and 2GB of "up to 4G speeds" of data. After the 1st 2GB the data throttles down to something slower.

Anybody on this service yet? I can't find much in the way of reviews, but it seems that service is pretty decent. I have a reserved spot in a beta wave, but won't be able to join until later in the summer. My other phone is a prepaid verizon line used more or less only for texting. This $19/month kind of price would end up being a touch cheaper plus the phone would be far more capable (some web surfing, for example).

Republic Wireless is getting some new phones, including a midrange phone and a highend phone (rumored that it might be the Samsung Galaxy S II)
