Representative or not somebody needs to smack this bitch into the next county

She should be charged with assaulting an officer, minimum. Alas, as she's a Representative, no charges were filed.

I wonder if the officer who got attacked was white?

lol i heard this in the background on the local news last night and when they said "struck an officer" i thought they meant she hit the officer in her car, like in a car accident.

Assault charges would be awesome, but $20 says that will never happen.

Considering how many people are in the house it takes some serious arrogance to pull that kind of sh!t, particularly when you're not acting in a way that any representative should.

WTF was she thinking? Attacking an officer?

Viper GTS

Sigh............

In her statement, McKinney said most members of Congress expect Capitol police to recognize them. "I was urgently trying to get to an important meeting on time to fulfill my obligations to my constituents. Unfortunately, the police officer did not recognize me as a member of Congress and a confrontation ensued," she said. "I did not have on my congressional pin but showed the police officer my congressional ID."

I wasn't there so I don't know what happened. But the woman is a 6 time elected member of Congress. Six times..... You would think an officer would know who she was. At least he should have.

Maybe the officer was new to that particular shift, and really didn't recognize her? You think?

She sounds like a conceited biatch who feels the world owes her everything. "I was urgently trying to get to an important meeting on time to fulfill my obligations to my constituents." Bullshit.

Yeh they aren't above the laws they make, they just don't have to worry about being prosecuted for disobeying them.

Now how do you extract from what little info there, that she is a biatch, a liar, and conceited? Are you psychic? Even if he was new, it should have maybe occured to him that no one else stopped her, duh. I would think a person who has been elected 6 times has some credibility and probably should get the benefit of the doubt. But I know that wouldn't fly with the peanut gallery here, because that would be sensible. Reality is a missing word in the vocabulary of many here. In that article, very very little can be determined. That's reality...........................

And edit: She stated she showed the officer a congressional ID. If thats true, what was his problem.

Why is it that everytime a thread focuses around an African American, you get so defensive for that person?

They *are* though, arent' they? I remember hearing that congressmen can't be arrested on the way to or from the Capitol for work.

There are conflicting reports, we don't actually know what happened... I'm sure there are surveillance cameras.

Ah do a search on my name. I have defended whites as well in the same manner. But we don't discuss the negative actions of whites here to often. I guess its always harder to look in the mirror. And regardless of her color, that you and I am sure a few others have focused on, because thats what yall do, there is not enough info in that article to call the woman names and put out a thread title saying someone should smack this b!tch. You got to be kidding me.

Might be broke, but sadly I think you are serious. As far as the obscene gesture, it was essential the same as showing someone who is gabbering endlessly the yapping hand gesure, a way of telling them I couldn't care less about what you are saying right now.

On to the congresslady, this has the potential to have her lose the election depending on the actual facts and the approach she takes to it.

The cop was definetely in the correct to stop her until he knew who she was. Just because all the other cops lets somebody by does not mean they have authorized access. That is why there are so many officers, to ensure somebody doesn't slip by. The thing about security is, you always have to be on your guard and challenge anybody who doesn't appear to be in their correct place. Never make assumptions.

If it was harmless as you make it out to be, why did Scalia say to the reporter "You're not going to print that, are you?"

Again quoting the article

Unfortunately, the police officer did not recognize me as a member of Congress and a confrontation ensued," she said. "I did not have on my congressional pin but showed the police officer my congressional ID."
