U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters' family members have made more than $1 million in the past eight years by doing business with companies, candidates and causes that the influential congresswoman has helped.

In varied ways, they have capitalized on clout she accumulated in a 28-year career as an elected official who built her power base among Blacks in south Los Angeles into a national platform.

Daughter Karen has charged candidates for spots on her mother's "slate mailer," a sample ballot that many voters in south Los Angeles use to guide their choices. . . . . . .
Apparently, what comes around, goes around.

Why would you pay $1-10 million every 2 or 6 years for a job that pays only $163,000😉

So few comments. Strange, indeed. 😉

There aren't any comments b/c what is there to say about that? Not much. The partisan BS that I see everyday is getting pretty lame.

I think it's time we wipe out all the current office holders, every single one of them, and start over. Also, I think once you've been there for 4 - 6 years . . time to move on, there should be no career politicians.

Just need to totally gut and revamp the election process so it doesn't turn into a big fund raising effort with a few votes on bills sprinkled in between.

$1M over 8 years is like one person's salary. For several family members. Doesn't seem like they are making off like bandits to me. There is nothing barring them from doing government work, and if they live in her district, she probably had something to do with most of the government contracts in the area.
In another case, the daughter of Rep. Curt Weldon, R-Pa., wound up with $1 million worth of contracts as a rookie lobbyist.
Now that's real money for one person.
