Hi
I am setting up a ECS K7S5A mobo with Athlon 1800+. and facing a strange problem.
It seems that I can't install Win2K if I have the following settings:

ACPI = enabled.
CPU freq/Bus freq = 133/133 MHz.

It only installs with the following 2 settings:
1. ACPI = enabled
2. CPU freq/Bus freq = 100/100 MHz.
In this case the processor runs at 1150 Mhz...(suxxxxxxxx)

or
1. ACPI = disabled
2. CPU freq/Bus freq = 133/133 MHz. (In which the system runs just fine)

Anybody has any idea as to why this might be happening??

idle temp ~35' C. Antec 400W PS. Crucial 2x256MB RAM. ECS BIOS ver. 09/20/2001, rev 5.

I am pretty much stuck up... so reposting.. Sorry :(

I got almost the same problem or something very similar, I haven't tried with acpi disabled or running the bus at 100mhz...

well, here's my problem, I guess the solution must be similar for your problem...

When I try to install win2k with this board, it installs, but the first boot that's going to load windows for real, I get a blue screen flash and a reboot, and it does that in a loop... The I tried win98 and it works flawlessly... What could be the problem??? (When I did that, there was only vid card, memory and cpu on the board)

Please help me! I don't want to be stuck with 98 for a long time!! ;-)

I have posted the reply in your thread... Go ahead and take a look at that..
Can you provide more detailed specs of your system... Maybe We can together figure out what the problem is ..

I had a couple of ideas on how to get everything working together.... But don't want to mess with my "stable" system . ... :D
