The PS3 CPU is more powerful for some super niche type of code that is completely irrelevant to game performance. For all intents and purposes(and all of the games show it), the 360 has better gaming hardware.

Technically yes, the CPU in the PS3 is pretty damn powerful, the thing is no developer can tap into it's full potential and the GPU isn't that powerful so games won't look much better.

This is true. I remember reading an article about Sucker Punch where they said they only used about a quarter of the PS3's power for Infamous 1, and they are using about half for Infamous 2. While that does say something about the PS3's power, it also says something about the ease (or lack of) of developing for the PS3.

Also, opinions on exclusives are entirely personal. I'm almost entirely a single player gamer, so the PS3's exclusives stand out way more to me.

why didn't they use any of the remaining 75% to do some sort of AA in Infamous?

Interesting. I wonder who's "right"

Not them. The bar for the 67M number on the PSP is smaller than the other bars with fewer units sold.

I assume because of the difficulty and time needed to efficiently utilize 100% of the power. IANADeveloper.

That's because the handhelds have their own bar heights... It's smaller because it's being compared to DS sales.

Twisted Metal is the only exclusive I care about this year. I will be incredibly sad if it gets delayed, but given all the gameplay videos and trailer I've seen I think they already had a good chunk of it done before announcing it so I'm hopefull.

That's not true... I forgot Infamous 2 is coming out this year and the early videos looked very good. I played through that one entirely so I should get some solid time out of the 2nd one too.

Gears of War will probably still be a good co-op romp, but I'll probably wait for that one as I only ever go through those once and I never cared for the competitive MP.

Like others have said, I would like to see the actual rate of how many hours people play their systems. I bought a PS3 just a few months ago, but it has already started only being used for Hulu and Blu-Ray, with me actually gaming on it once or twice a week for a short period of time.

The reason I bought the PS3 was to complete GOW trilogy but was pleasantly surprised with Uncharted series.

I have had both since launch, and have played maybe 4 games on PS3. Its basically a blu-ray player for me so for the sake of gaming, you can subtract one from the total sales.

I've preordered Socom, but am expecting it to be another shitty game like the last one. Hopefully I'll be surprised.

I got a launch 360 and played nothing but Hexic until DOA4 came out (horrendous launch titles), then only played DOA4 until Gears 1 came out. I was so disappointed with Gears 1 that I sold my 360 the day after it came out, and didn't get another one until mid 2007 (had extra from my tax return, wanted to play Mass Effect). After Mass Effect I didn't touch it until the slim models came out, where I foolishly traded my system for a slim. Now the slim sits there being useless.

On the other hand, I use my PS3 every single day. The exclusives are just better and more plentiful to me. To this day the only 360 game I own is Mass Effect. The system is just garbage (again, to me).

Wow, Gears 1 was great when it first came out. Obviously its dated now but I can't imagine someone not enjoying it when it first released. There wasn't much of anything else available at the time of its release.

Different strokes for different folks I guess....

I ended up loving it co-op when I played it post Gears 2. But when I first got it the single player bored me terribly. I'm looking forward to Gears 3 purely for the co-op.

personally i play xbox360 a SHITLOAD more than ps3, and it is solely due to the online gaming.

xbox360 = online gaming machine
ps3 = single player gaming machine.

IMO, ps3 has WWAAYY better single player exclusives than 360 ... like it is not even comparable (and i am not an RPG fan so Mass Effect and Blue Dragon or whatever i dont even care about)

but psn on PS3 is a fucking joke compared to xbox live for online gaming.

Yep, I would agree with that as well. I rarely play online, but if I did it more I would probably be a 360 gamer.

It has more, but I am not sure about "better"...

Best exclusive FPS: Halo
Best exclusive Racing Sim: Forza 3 (sorry GT fans) but GT5 is close
Best TPS: Gears of War
Best exclusive RPG: Up until last November, it was Mass Effect 2
Best puzzle game: LBP
Best adventure game: Uncharted 2

Keep in mind I own a PS3...

Demon's Souls > Mass Effect 2 IMO not sure you would count that as an RPG like Mass Effect

God of War 3 deserves a title for Best something depending on how you categorize it

Best Sports exclusive is probably MLB: The Show going by reviews (i hate baseball so I don't own it)

I'm mostly single-player, but both have some good SP exclusives.

These are based on what I've played, so feel free to disagree:

Best strategy game - Valkyria Chronicles
Best sandbox - Crackdown 1

Same here but actually for me it's the controller. I just can't stand the feel of the PS3 controller, very uncomfortable. If I can get it on 360, I do.

You do realize that the PSP bar is "only" being compared to the Nintendo DS bar right ?

The 3 consoles are compared, than the two handhelds are compared.

I dont own a PS3 or a 360 right now. As a matter of fact, I own zero consoles.

But if I were to guess, the 360 is still only in the lead, because of 2nd and 3rd time failed units, Then the same people purchased another one. Hell, I know of several people that own more than two 360's.

So that 360 installed user base, isn't entirely accurate if you ask me.

Of course, the same could be with the PS3 as well. But I do doubt it would be any where near the 360 failure rate.
