Report: Journalists From Three Newspapers Booted From Obama's Plane

T2T III

Just trying to keep it real here, folks. Also, note the last paragraph where the McCain campaign has also barred a few Communists (oops, I mean columnists) from his plane, too.

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain have reportedly been booted from Barack Obama's campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race.

The Washington Times reported Friday that it was notified of the Obama campaign's decision Thursday evening -- even though the paper has covered Obama from the start.

Executive Editor John Solomon told FOXNews.com that the Obama campaign said it didn't have enough seats on the plane, but "I don't think the explanation makes sense to us."

"We've been traveling since 2007 with him. ... We're a relevant newspaper -- every day we break news," Solomon said. "And to suddenly be kicked off the plane for people who haven't covered it as aggressively or thoroughly as we are ... it sort of feels unfair."

He said the newspaper protested but was turned down again by the campaign.

"I can only hope that the candidate who describes himself as wanting to unite the nation doesn't have some sort of litmus test for who he decides gets to cover the campaign," Solomon said, noting that the Obama campaign's decision came just two days after the paper endorsed McCain.

The New York Post and Dallas Morning News also have been kicked off Obama's plane, according to the Web site The Drudge Report. It said the three reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate "network bigwigs" and reporters from two black magazines, Essence and Jet.

Representatives from the New York Post and Dallas Morning News could not be reached immediately for comment.

Obama's not the only candidate to play hardball with the press. McCain's campaign has reportedly barred columnists Joe Klein and Maureen Dowd, who have been critical of the Republican candidate, from its campaign plane.

It <Drudge Report> said the three reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate "network bigwigs" and reporters from two black magazines, Essence and Jet.

OK, where and how can THIS be substantiated?

could it be equally possible that Obama booted these journalists from his plane in order to make room for Elvis, the tooth fairy, and Santa Claus?

this is actually more worrisome than Obama booting people off his plane, something that McCain did too.

why insert unsubstantiated rumor that "network bigwigs" and reporters from two black magazines, Essence and Jet into the report?

I clearly see race-baiting as the intended message here.

OH and Foxnews has this story as one of their top headlines...including the "Essence and Jet" report from Drudge.

The New York Post is a Rupert Murdoch rag. So that's ok with me.

The Dallas Morning News? The only thing I know about them is they faked their circualtion figures to rip off their advertisers and had to pay 23 million dollars back to them. Oh, and they used the stolen advertising money to put their competitior, the Times Herald out of business.

The Washington Times was founded and owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon (the Moonies).

Yep, three upstanding pillars of the newspaper community.

Since you seem to be so saavy about searching the history and reliability of newspapers, it would be interesting to see your *true* perspective of the following newspapers:

The New York Times

The Los Angeles Times

However, I'm sure in your mind or view, they've never done anything wrong - nor, shown any bias during this campaign. Correct?

Here is hoping this story develops...

I'd like to see someone substantiate the claim that the journalists were booted for "Essence and Jet" magazine people.

Of course if that can't be substantiated then I'm left to speculate that Drudge inserted those magazine names in order to twist the story to incite racial tension and race-baiting.

Well Obama probably has to make room for the entire LA times staff. Obama owes them for saving his campaign by withholding a damaging tape days from the election.

The New York Times is the most prestigious newspaper on the North American continent. It has won more pulitzer prizes than any other newspaper, and is considered by the world as the paper of record for the United States. Sounds pretty reliable to me. The LA Times is not nearly as good.

Remember though guys, T2T III is a moderate!

Aww, you almost made a post that was even handed, but you just couldn't help yourself could you?

Why would you make this post when you're the OP and can update there? 😕

Re the OP: 'Keeping it real' - Real dumb!

Naw ... I just wanted to ensure you Democrats were not asleep at the switch. Remember, Obama has stated before that this is no time to be lazy.

Drudge thinks it's pretty big news. Top three headlines, ALL CAPS.

Drudge thought the "B" girl was URGENT and "pretty big" news I guess then.

"B" girl got ALL CAPS and RED FONT at the top of the headlines.

😛

FoxNews.com has it as their main headline as well. Why are they singling out Obama if McCain did the same thing? Odd.

Speaking of circulation, the Dallas Morning News has a daily circulation of ~368,000. Essence publishes over a million copies a month (and claims a readership of nearly 8 million, though that number is somewhat questionable). Even if they were booted to make room, we're talking about making room for national reporting reaching contested states. It's also interesting to note that the "possibly" qualifier for the booting that appears in the Drudge Report somehow got lost in the Fox News article.
