"Sources told The Post the network will demand the two stars be tossed from 46th Annual Grammy Awards if CBS's probe shows the duo schemed in advance to expose Jackson's pierced breast during the halftime spectacle"

DUH

If this was to happen I would like to see all performers boycott the grammys.

Jesus people, it's a BOOB. Roughly 50% of the population has them. Quit making such a big deal out of nothing.

CBS would not have approved the exposure. They(MTV) may have known about the original planned pull away to reveal the bra.

The additional exposure was only the performers' doing in order to generate a shock factor (and possibly one-up the Britney show)

It is the planned deception and the intentional breaking of the rules that is the problem.

If it was accidental, there would be no problem/issues.

i'm still betting they are just surprised at the backlash and are trying to shift responsibility to the performers.

Whatever, it's still a complete non-issue. CBS are just bowing to pressure from all the puritanical morons who wrote/called and were screaming about how their kids are going to be scarred forever.

It's more than "Puritanical morons" that are upset. Some of us non-secular folks didn't like it either, regardless if it may have scarred my kids or not. It didn't belong on the half-time show of the Super Bowl. What should be lined up next year? Full Nude Burlesque Show? Why not, it's just nudity, right?

Exactly.

And the FCC has been really cracking down lately. Clear Channel got nailed for a $775,000 fine for some radio show, I believe.

My 9 year-old daughter was upset with that ignorant display. Had it been my 16 year-old, I'd have just rolled my eyes along with her...but...9? And there were younger kids watching, too. Thing is, my 9 year-old is apparently more mature than a couple of "adults" showing off on national broadcast TV.

There should not be such a fuss about nudity and sexuality. If, as a whole, America was not so hung up over sexuality, we might have better adjusted people in our country.

Other countries are not as "prudish," and their children grow up fine. Maybe even better than ours.

It really boils down to parents not wanting to take the time to explain sexuality to their kids. They would rather shield their children from the very existance of it, and then hope their friends/school do a good enough job for them.

It is rather disgusting that such an incident would get so much press.

At least Micheal is not the number one headline anymore.....

I'm not saying it wasn't completely stupid, I'm just saying a two-second flash of a breast of all things is just not that big a deal. Obviously, this is JMHO, since it is a big deal to some, but I just don't understand why. I mean, people freak out about even seeing a glimpse of breast used for its intended purpose.....WTF is that all about?

I think I'm the only one who didn't notice it on the original broadcast. My buddies were like "did he just..." and we all cursed the lack of Tivo to see if it was true or not (of couse, like the madonna-britney kiss, it was all over the 'net in seconds).

Speaking of Tivo, that was the most replayed moment on the superbowl among Tivo owners. The two bud lite commercials were also very popular.

Apparently Tivo keeps data like that every year for the superbowl .

Gotta weigh in in CBS's favor on this one. They aren't caving in to the public, but are about to be put on a spit and slow roasted by a very powerful organization (aka the Feds) who can (and will) fine them at least. Then there is the retribution on the part of the FCC. They can screw up licensing, station acqusitions, in fact ruin them. Now, it may be that the FCC is responding to public pressure, but then the govt. is supposed to. CBS execs know that, and were hardly willing to bump heads with them. Janet and Justin screwed the pooch and expect others to bear the consequences.

DOSFan, I think you misunderstood my statements.

As a parent, it is indeed up to me to discuss nudity and sexuality with my children. And the discussion will come up when I think it's appropriate to discuss the issue with my kids. Not when Janet Jackson, not when network TV and not when some segments of society that feel we should mimic everything after the Europeans think it is appropriate.

There is something to be said for decorum, decency and modesty, none of which were shown when the incident occured.

I'm really sick of arguing about this topic already. Obviously some of you "get it" and some of you don't. Nothing will change.

It's the way it was done.

I'm not that anal that my kids have never seen nudity on TV or in the theater.

But with Justin putting his hand on Janet and ripping her clothes, that's an upsetting visual image for a 9 year-old. Esp. one that has a lot of interest in Justin and his music (as much as I may despise that fact. :) ) This was a real person (that she has met in person a couple of times) doing a real thing (not some video game...which my kids don't play anyway.)

When Titanic came out, I took my oldest who was about 10-11 at the time. I was uncomfortable with the scene of Leo painting a nude Kate but it was tastefully done and I knew going in that the film was PG-13.

I could less about the split second bewbage display. But is anyone (as an American citizen) offended by Kid Rock wearing the US flag as a poncho? :|

Man, that's just wrong.

The FCC jumped on it before the public opinion could realize the the FCC had the ability to do anything about it.

The FCC chairman saw the show. He would have been on the phone to the proper FCC watchdogs even before the second half kickoff. I am sure the the bigwigs at CBS did not see much of the second half either.

Perhaps I did.

But at the same time, you misunderstand my statements.

It was a stunt. That at the same time gave Janet and Justin publicity you can not buy with as much money as Bill Gates has, and removed Janet's brother from the headlines.

That only happens because of the general belief of the country.

And as far as decorum, decency, and modesty... You will not find that during the Super Bowl, or its comercials. So why force it upon the Half Time show? :p

Of course the FCC did. Then the public started to call. Do you think public opinion has no effect on penalties? It will.

Personally I think this is much ado about nothing, but I would not have either of the two on any show. It was stupid beyond words. Besides, it wasnt that great a boob shot :D
