I'm looking to replace the 2K3 Server with a more updated OS, due to the growing compatibility issues with new software being made.

Currently my 2K3 computer supports a 10-PC office with two duties - 5-User Quickbooks Enterprise via Remote Desktop, 500GB file server, and Microsoft Office software (remote desktop) for those PC's with no Office installed... done away with pirate ware many yrs ago ago ;)

I see Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Server 2008, Windows Small Business Server... the list goes on. What would be a good server selection, one that achieves my usage target without breaking the bank? Any pros and cons? Thanks in advance :)

Server 2008 R2 Standard, should only be about a grand plus 5 additional CALS.

Once you throw terminal services in to the mix you need 2008R2 or SBS 2008 Premium. To really give you good advice you need to list what software is having issues. You may need to look at those specs first. Using terminal services even just for office adds a decent chunk of change. You do know you need to licenses per session/person on terminal services right?
