Hey guys. I've lost track of how many generations there are of the iPod Touch, so I can't really tell you which one I'm talking about. All I know is that is has a retina display, a front camera, and it's white.

The device belongs to my girlfriend's little sister. Who knows what the heck she did to it; she put it in her lunch box and it came out spiderwebbed. The entire front has to be replaced.

To my knowledge, the glass, digitizer, and screen are all glued together as one piece, so all of it has to be replaced at once. Is this accurate? And where would I get these parts? How hard is it to do?

Thanks :)

The digitizer and glass are fused together. The LCD is technically seperate from the glass...but the odds of getting them apart are generally stacked against you if you havne't done it before.

$42 is a very fair price IMO if you don't feel like dealing with it. Especially considering the time, risk, and stress involved.

If you feel like having fun, you can get the full LCD/digitizer/glass combo for ~$35 last I checked, or just the digitizer and glass for under $10. (You'll find both on Amazon and ebay.) Keep in mind, in order to remove the LCD ribbon, you actually have to remove the motherboard. So you'll be disassembling pretty much the whole iPod.
