@Greenman hopefully you get feeling better.

a fire place may be stupid an CA but propane is going to be 3+ per gallon here, and I am happy we have a woodstove as the central point in the living room, reduces heat cost by a shit ton burning free wood vs paying for propane.

What kind of doctor did you see? If you're dealing with ligaments and muscles, there's no quick fix. Either it heals on its own, you get surgery, or you do physical therapy.

I hurt my right arm lifting a few wet 16' 2X8's last year and it's still not right. I think it was a partial tear to the muscle and maybe ligament. I didn't go to the doctor and only the last few months has the muscle felt strong enough that I think it's less likely to tear again.

It's absolutely location dependent. It's very rare that we get anything more than a frost around here, and we also have "spar the air" days when you can't use a fireplace. I have no idea what I pay for natural gas, or how much I use, that's the wife's department.

I've been to two different GP's and the answer was the same for both, no idea what the hell is going on. @WelshBloke gave me some advice on over the counter medication that's made a night and day difference. I don't know if my shoulder is getting any better, but it doesn't hurt anymore. Don't mention that success to him, he might send me a bill.;)

Ha good news however be careful because the med is just hiding the pain. Go easy with stuff until you are certain it has healed.

Good. That stuff goes by the brand-name Aleve.

Ibuprofen lasts 4-6 hours and would do the same thing, but dosing would be higher. My wife prescribes 800mg+....and it's metabolized through your kidneys.

Aleve/Naproxen can be better if you can do the lower dose once/day. The anti-inflammatory properties might help it heal if you hurt a ligament.

Consider massage therapy if you think it could possibly be a muscle strain and if the pain is on your left shoulder, behind your heart, you might want to get a heart check up....just in case.
