My Asrock motherboard has been showing possible age related failure tendacies for the last year and I'm having another issue of not being able to boot it up now. So in the sooner than later timeframe, I'll likely need to replace it. What CPU/MB/ram details should I be looking for during the rest of the holiday shopping season?

You'd first need to decide what CPU would work best for your use (Intel 9 series vs. Ryzen 2*00).

You then would pick the motherboard that works for you, and then the RAM after deciding on that. Just make sure the RAM is on the memory manufacturer's or motherboard manufacturer's QVL list (especially if going with a Ryzen build). You will likely want DDR4 3000 or 3200 RAM with tighter timings (Cas 14 or 15). With Intel, the memory speed gains are as drastic as they are with Ryzen.
