Replacing loud HSF on MSI GF4 Ti4600

I just realized last night that my GF4 card was by far the loudest part of my PC - VERY loud in fact.

I would like to replace the HSF with something pretty quiet - I do not OC and I have 6 fans on an Aluminun Superflower case (they are all Enermax fans turned down to the slowest speed) including a side exhaust fan right over the video card.

Can anyone recomend a good product? I am willing to spend up to around $40ish.

Take a look at the ZM80 series heatsinks on this page:

Xoxide VGA Coolers Page

You could find them cheaper and in stock at a different store. They should be able to cool the card silently without a fan. I can't speak from personal experience but installation looks like it could potentially be tricky.

yeah my pny ti4200 card has that same nvidia reference fan on it, and it too was the loudest thing in my computer. it wasnt delta black label loud, but still louder than my artic cooler cpu and case fans and psu.

there is that thermaltake copper one, that is pretty good. in my case i just bought a new radeon 9600 with no fan on it. problem solved.

The Thermaltake copper cooler isn't exactly silent either. Your best bet from Zephyr's link would be the Thermaltake Giant II. It should be able to passively cool the GPU if the fan on that is annoying.

There is a review here: http://www.creativemods.com/article.php?37.0

The people at silentpcreview.com had some really great things to say about it.

I was going to just get one of the giant heatsinks/heatpipes, but the thing that got me was that this thing vents the hot air from the GPU - lowering internal temps and letting me get by with less fan noise.

ah i had thought about the arcticcooling one, but it says its gf3 and radeons only. and i had a gf4.

I have not been able to find someone who put it on a Ti4600 - I think I saw some Ti4200 users who were successful, but I am not familiar with those cards and I think they are a little different than the 4600.

Well - I ordered it 3rd day saver so it should be here by tuesday ish - I will post back how it goes after I get it.

I am just SO tired of that little turbine under my desk...
