Replacing Hard Drive

Right now I have a 60GB hard drive in my laptop that dual boots the following:

Ubuntu 9.04
Windows XP Pro

I want to replace it with another hard drive, but don't want the XP Pro option. What software would handle this for me and what would be the easiest way to do this.

Basically going from a dual boot 60GB hard drive to a single boot Ubuntu hard drive.

Hrm...

Well, if it was me, I'd do a mirror image to the new HDD, using CloneZilla.

Then, I'd delete the XP partition using GParted, and resize /home to use the remainder of the disk.

Finally, I'd edit GRUB and get rid of the XP reference(s)...

Good call! I'd like to second that suggestion 🙂

thanks, I'll keep that in mind next time. I just took the opportunity to go from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 with a clean install.

I've been running Ubu 9.10 on my P4EE box, for a week or two, and I like it just fine!

Updates have been coming daily. Yesterday, Firefox was updated to 3.5.5 and... what a difference!?!?! 😀

BTW, I've been using a GREAT utility, for a few months. I could live without it, but it sure makes life easier!

http://ubuntu-tweak.com/ (Ubuntu Tweak | Let's tweak Ubuntu!)

I run this on all of my Ubu & Mint machines...

If you're not already using it yet, you might want to give it a shot! 😉
