I bought a vga silencer for me gf3 and i'm a bit scared of installing it, i've never done any mods to video cards before. My card has a thermal pad , how should I go about removing it? Isopropyl alchohol and cotton swabs?

what do you mean unplugging the fan and running it?
also why the heck is the included backplate different than the one advertised? its revision 3 so it's supposed to include a video card backplate that take up two pci slots but i got one that takes up one.

see how the backplate has holes for dvi, vga and tv out? well mine is not dual stacked like that, mine just has a seperate pci mounting plate with the switch and nothing else. is that a design change or...?
edit: i had a similiar problem with my GF3 ti200, and you're right it uses a thermal pad instead of paste, the suggestion i mention above is what i had to do to remove the heatsink. also to remove the remains of the pad from the core i saturated the GPU with 91% alcohol, and then used a DL to "scrape" the rest of the pad from the GPU.
