Has anyone tried replacing the fan on the Volcano6Cu+ ? The Cu+ is just waaaaaaay too loud with the 7000rpm fan.

Any suggestions on which fan i should get that fits nicely on the heatsink ?

Thanks.

i have a version 5 and it is very noise too. I want to replace the fan too. Fry's sold it for 5.99 and I couldn't resist it. Moreover, Can anyone point me to a guide for changing the fan in the PowerSupply? or, give me lots of hints of how to do it right and what kind of fan for the PowerSupply? I have the Enhancer powersupply from the Newegg Evercase deal.
Alex Thanks
have a nice weekend.

i have a 6cu+ from Fry's and it's way too loud for me too. I originally thought about getting a 60mm to 80mm adapter and getting a quiet panaflo for it, but the adapters run about 13 bucks. I bought a svc gc68 for around the same price. I haven't installed it yet, but it's a 3000 rpm, 28 dba fan, which should be wonders better than 39dba and 7000rpm. People are saying good things about it in Cases and Cooling though. :) I think it's Snowpunk that did a favorable review on it.

I replaced the fan on my Volcano 6cu+ with a 4500RPM fan from my Volcano II. Fits fine and is fairly quiet.

30 cfm and 3000 rpm's is enough for the svc gc68. It's a whole new hsf. It has 80mm fan for a different heatsink. I wouldn't recommend putting it on a 6cu+. I decided to get rid of the 6cu+ and go with a new hsf.

Hmm.. those are all good suggestions... but am i correct to assume that ANY 60mm fan will fit on my heatsink. The current fan on the 6Cu+ is also an 60mm fan.

I do believe that any 60mm fan will work, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. The only problem is that almost all 60mm fans need to be high rpm to cool effeciently. That causes the whiny "hair dryer" sound.

Like I said in my first post in this thread, there are 60mm to 80 mm adapters. I have seen them for around 13 bucks. Do a google search for "60mm to 80mm adapter" and you will find other places that sell them.

I felt the adapters were too much, that's why I got a new hsf, that's what I said in my first post as well.

had it for 3 week on monday, and I ordered a new HSF a week ago. It's way too loud. After I installed it, my mom said, get a new fan for that thing now :)
