Replacing Capacitors

I have a few Capacitors on my KT7A-RAID which are leaking.

I have decided to replace them. I think they are 2200 uF 6.3V Low ESR caps. (Please confirm this)

1) Where would be a good place to order these from?
2) Do they really have to be Low ESR?
3) Is ESR the same as low leakage current electrolytics?

Also while I am at it. A few months ago I got a radeon 8500 LE.
It doesn't seem to like my KT7A-RAID. After installing drivers
windows became extremely unstable. If anyone has had experience
with this problem as well, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses.

pretty much by definition, Electrolytic caps are leaky (DC current is not completely blocked). But the advantage of them is that you get large values of capacitance in a small package and cheap price. (lots of energy storage, but wont hold the charge for very long)

'Low ESR' refers to low equivalent series resistance to high frequency AC signals which makes them good filters because they are effective at shunting unwanted high frequency components.

The brand of caps used on your mobo should be printed on the caps. Do a google for sources. (digikey is a good source)

In that sense of the word, yes, but when the dielectric goo itself leaks out of the cap, that's another issue. 😉

Actually, that is a damaged, misapplied capacitor.....

'leaky' is not referencing dielectric containment in a discussion of capacitor specs.

OOPS, 😱

I really wasn't trying to criticize or belittle. Just going along with the conversation.

If my comments were offensive, I am truly sorry.... it was not intentional
