i have a 15" touchscreen LCD & the backlight is going out - it's flickering alot then eventually blacks out.

is it possible/difficult to replace it?

it's only worth ~100 or so..

It depends on the Make and Model.

Some are easy to change some are not.

Some parts are expensive some are not.

First step find out how much a new part will cost.

put a flashlight against the screen at an angle when it goes out, if you can see the display a little, then its the light. There are some other gadgets that can go wrong and are difficult to replace.

Here you go

Problem is that while the info in the link is accurate, it is accurate for the specific computer.

In some it is very easy to take apart the screen and exchange the Light/Inverter.

In some it is very very hard.

The compaq in the clip is one of the easiest I ever saw.

Thus I would Not run and buy parts before I can find somewhere the instructions for the specific computer that the OP is talking about.
