Replacing a laptop screen

A friend of mine dropped his laptop and the screen is cracked. It is a Toshiba Tecra 8200.

I have a few older laptops lying around and was considering attempting to use the screen from one of the older laptops on his (since they are both the same size). Are laptop screens interchangeable? I was going to disassemble both laptops to see if they both had the same motherboard connector, but wanted to ask here, first before taking the laptops apart.

You can replace the screen, but each model has its own kind of compatible screen. Most likely, it will not work.
