replacing a combo drive with a superdrive

Um, I have no idea really. I do know that a replacement SuperDrive will run you about $180 or so if you have to get it from an online retailer.

Worked like a charm in my mac mini, recognized it on boot... Heck, it even has an apple logo on the label

If he has a mini, imac, ibook, or powerbook that will work fine, but the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros use 9.5mm drives, so that drive wouldn't work unfortunately. I was looking at that drive myself until I found out it wouldn't work in there.
