I have a 1.0G Athlon OCed to 1.0g
and am looking to make a couple changes in temp maagement...i have a yeong yand black cube case and ABIT KT7-RAID MB... according to the MB temps my CPU is 30-37C when idle....and around 50C when i run SETI, folding, and another DC program concurrently....
I want to upgrade the cooler master 'stock 60mm fan' to an 80mm fan (current fan not sounding good...the PC have basically been on since early 2001)...i have almost settled on the Termaltake smart fan cool mod (fan speed control with blue lights and red for HD access)...but wanted to get your feedback....
I will be jumping up and down on NB fan which has become very noisy with a zalman HS (I think I will get the blue one which will requre that remove the motherboard...but am open to the yellow version that come with the permanent adhesive)
I have replace the two rear 80mm fans on the drive side and they are much quieter (with antec smart fans...auto temp controled) and the front blower on the board side with a 92mm blower (Antec Smart fan)
I am also going through the wrenching process of evaluating fan controlers...and will likely get one in a couple of weeks....so should i just get a good LED/UV Fan instead of the TT SMartfan/Coolmod and use the controller exclsively? or get the TT and use the controller to control temps?
That would leave me with the PS fans to replace/improve down the road (or to buy a new PS and rebuild the system)...and i am looking to make a couple mods such as a window and UV light...and maybe the occasional UV cabling/fan or something interesting...
SO...
any issues using the TT SmartFan/CoolMod on the CPU?
Is is worth the time to remove the MB to attach the Zalman NB cooler properly, or should I just install it permanently and be done with it ( the MB is getting old and I need t build my son a new PC)?
Does anyone make a Fan controller with low profile knobs, 4-6 fan reostats from 0-12v, can handle 2 switches for lights, and has tempature sensors for each major component?
Or maybe a controler that will increase the fan speed for you when the temps rise?
I am sure i will have mor e??? I will return to the forum and read the posts and salivate on your collective cool case mods.
Thanks
