My T41p replacement arrived yesterday. Having waited almost a month, I was very nervous about starting it up. So far none of the problems with the icons under windows XP not responsding have occurred. I have installed my usual compliment of software and all seems well. As soon as I configure its network I will give a full evaluation. One thing I do not know how to do on this notebook is to increase the processor speed when running on the battery. I have been to the power management section and chosen Hi Performance and the processor speed is reporting at 598 mhz. I rarely travel more than a three hour flight so the hi capacity battery running the laptop at 1.7 GHZ should still last for the duration. I even configured the power management to disable processor power management, but no change in speed showed up when right clicking the My Computer icon. Is there a way to over ride the stepped down speed of this processor when running in battery mode?

Thanks

Hey that's good to hear you don't have the same problems with the icons. I had the same problems and I RMA'd mine back today and will hopefully receive a replacement in a couple of weeks. I really think the problem with the icons had to do with conflicts with IBMs own installed software. Because I could make the 'my computer' stuff work and not work when I had IBM programs like pc-doctor or access IBM running in the background.

you may want to try and get a program that will tell you the speed of the cpu instead of relying on the my computer properties.

i have a x1000 and i know that cpuid bsods my computer. you should try anyway though.

batterymon is a battery monitoring program. it also has an info screen that displays mhz.
batterymon.

edit. i wish that worked on these boards.
