Replacement Motherboard

I need to replace motherboard on Compaq Presario SR2023WM which is a Asus A8M2n-LA.
My question is can I just get a different brand motherboard with the same specifications

Yep, its standard Micro ATX. You'll need to reactivate Windows by calling Microsoft Activation Support, but shouldn't have any problem as long as you still have the OEM sticker on the case with the Product Key. Just tell them your motherboard died and needed replacement.

Bought a MSI motherboard today and connected with Microsoft to reactivate windows over the internet and gave them my Product key and everything is back to normal or better.
Thanks for the help tcsenter

Did you replace the CPU also? For about $65, a X3 Athlon II is about a 75 or 80 percent improvement over your original chip. And depending on your new MB, it might even unlock the other core.
