I have an Aspire Acer One 522 that I bought in March of 2011

My favorite things about it are: dual-core AMD processor, Radeon graphics, HDMI out, 720p screen, 6 hour+ battery life, overall size (10.1" screen, nice keyboard), 1.3mp webcam, cost (~$300)

I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate and 4gb of RAM and it is almost perfect, but

My least favorite thing about it: no lighted keyboard (super sad face), no bluetooth (meh)

So i'm thinking of upgrading to something better. 18 months later, I expect there should be something newer, faster, cheaper, brighter, but ... it seems Acer hasn't released a successor. Has anyone else? Is something coming soon? Thanks.

It sounds like you like it and there's very little missing. How about just:

well ... it is slower than I'd like. It still chugs sometimes even with 4gb of RAM

but the biggest problem is the screen. it seems to have a faulty connector or wire, and the screen goes crazy way too often with flickering lines and sometimes becomes completely unreadable
